They have T.Y Hilton and Donte Moncrief as their starters. Kamar Aiken and two of their very inexperienced guys are pushing to surpass Dorsett on the depth chart, and supposedly this is very much a make-or-break year for Dorsett. The thinking by some fans, and maybe the reason the rumor was reported, is that his stock might very well continue to slide to the point where he has no tradevalue. That might actually already be the case.
Well, I did not get to see the game against the Falcons where Capi sort of had a little breakthrough. Would you be comfortable with him playing during the regular season? I mean, I know that he would be far down the depth chart but he would most likely still play important snaps. I guess there most be a reason why they tried to claim Kony Ealy off waivers just the other day. Also, I have been extremely pleased with the progress of Kareem Martin this offseason since he could easily be a very important piece to the defense this year. What is your take on him? I am not saying he will be a star or anything but I have no problem with him being the primary backup to Chandler Jones and Golden.
Good assessment of Dorsett and why the Colts might trade him. Gandhi, do you think Dorsett is better than John Brown and/or J.J. Nelson? Where would Dorsett fit?
Kareem Martin and Cap Capi have been outstanding this pre-season. Martin looks like a natural to assume Alex Okafor's role as the situational pass rusher because like Okafor, Martin is good at executing twists and TEX stunts. What's most encouraging about Martin is that not only is he setting a hard edge as a SAM LB, on his edge rushes now he is converting power to short area slipperiness. Martin will never been speedy or super quick, but he has become a bull rusher who can slip off blocks.
Capi put on the WILL clinic in Atlanta. In every aspect of the WILL role, he excelled, not just in production, but in technique. He was rock solid setting the edge, he squeeze running plays inside and even made a couple of tackles on his squeezes...he picked up the TEs and RBs quickly in coverage and saved a TD on one of them, and his "dip and rip" edge rush was Markus Golden-esque.
