The 2026 FIFA World Cup is in the books, after a dominant 1-0 effort from Spain to spoil Lionel Messi and Argentina’s quest for a repeat as champions.
Spain held Argentina without a shot for a majority of the match, before holding off some quality chances late in the game. Unfortunately, the game ended with disgrace for Argentina, with a brawl on the field following the final whistle.
As La Roja players were beginning to celebrate their second World Cup title, Argentina midfielder Nahuel Molina appeared to punch Spain captain Rodri. Argentina midfielder Leandro Paredes was also seen shoving Spain’s Eric Garcia. There was a lot of pushing and shoving before coaching staffs could come between the players and separate them.

It was a disappointing end to an impressive World Cup run for Argentina.

Punches were thrown, players were thrown to the ground, and there was even some grabbing by the throat.

Luckily, coaches were able to get involved before things turned even more ugly.
For Argentina, it’s a shameful and embarrassing way to go out, while Spain will get to celebrate their World Cup title and the title of World Champions.
