The United States might be reviving an iconic look for the 2026 World Cup. Today, soccer jersey outlet Footy Headlines revealed what reportedly will be the design for the 2026 World Cup home jersey for the USMNT, and the horizontal stripes made famous by the 2012 Waldo jersey are the inspiration for the design.

The jersey would take inspiration from a waving U.S. flag, featuring an off-white kit that has red and deep red undulating stripes going horizontally across the torso. The Nike swoosh is in navy and the U.S. Soccer crest sits on the left chest. Navy blue apparently appears on the collar and sleeve cuffs. It creates a vintage look that gives the USMNT (and USWNT, who would also wear the jersey) an amazing look to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence and the birth of the United States.

Of course, arguably the most popular jersey that U.S. Soccer has produced was the 2012 “Waldo” jersey, which served as the federation’s jersey from 2012 until 2014. It was also mimicked with the release of the 2017 3rd jersey, which was exclusively worn during the Gold Cup, and the 2018 jersey that was largely forgotten because the USMNT failed to make the 2018 World Cup.

When the United States hosted the 1994 World Cup, their home jersey wasn’t the Denim jersey that most people attribute to that World Cup. It was a jersey that has become known as the “Bacon” jersey with its vertical undulating stripes. Both of those jerseys are the nostalgia that U.S. Soccer seem to desire if this jersey turns out to be true.

If this 2026 design turns out to be true, it could easily go down as one of the most popular jerseys in U.S. Soccer’s history, as having the World Cup on home soil will only add to its legacy.

Hit the comments to discuss this jersey design and how many you plan to buy if this is indeed the one the USMNT will wear during this summer’s World Cup.
