The Apple Valley softball team shut out Hesperia 7-0 at home on Friday afternoon and improved to 2-0 in the Mojave River League standings.
The Sun Devils took control with a three-run third inning on a run-scoring single from Hailey Macias and a two-run double from Allyssa Purser.
That was more than enough support for Makaylee Cerf, who held the Scorpions to five hits in a complete-game shutout.
Apple Valley added four more runs in the fifth inning to seal the deal.
Cerf ended with eight strikeouts and also went 2 for 3 with one RBI at the plate.
Macias ended 3 for 4 with one RBI and two runs; Purser went 2 for 3 with two RBIs and one run; Khloe Beserra went 2 for 3 with one run; and Jordyn Gentile went 2 for 3 with two RBIs.

For Hesperia, Aliyah Villalobos had two hits and pitched a complete game, striking out two.
At Hesperia, the Bulldogs avenged a loss to the Sultans from earlier this week behind a strong performance from Jacob Webster.
Webster went 3 for 4 with three RBIs, two runs and one stolen base.
Kelvin Lackey Jr. went 3 for 4 with two RBIs and one stolen base, while Seth Marcil went 2 for 2 with two RBIs, four runs and one stolen base.
Eric Sotelo allowed one run on four hits with two strikeouts over 5 ⅓ innings to earn the win. With the result, Oak Hills moved into a three-way tie for first place in the MRL standings with Apple Valley and Hesperia.
At Apple Valley, the Sun Devils broke a 2-2 tie with three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, capped by a two-run single from Andrew Wilson that scored Mikey Fonville and Tyler Redona.
Serrano scored twice in the seventh, but Wilson recorded the final two outs by strikeout to earn the save.
Wilson ended 3 for 3 with two RBIs and one run, Redona scored two runs and Conner Wilson added an RBI.
For Serrano, Bryce Thurber went 2 for 4 with one RBI and one run, and Aiden Brambila hit a solo home run.
At Ridgecrest, the Scorpions fell out of sole possession of first place in the MRL standings with a loss to the Burros.
For Burroughs, Andrew Haas and Steve Lormand each hit a home run, while Cael Rivera went 3 for 4 with three RBIs and three runs.
For Hesperia, Jacob Castillo went 2 for 4 with one RBI and two runs, and Brandon Aguilar went 2 for 3 with two RBIs.
At Ridgecrest, the Bulldogs totaled 24 hits in a dominant win over the Burros, led by a four-hit performance from Kayla Cazares.
Cazares went 4 for 5 with a home run, five RBIs and three runs.
Anaya Tula went 3 for 5 with three RBIs and three runs; Jasmin Sanchez went 3 for 4 with an RBI and three runs; Kaylin Steed hit a home run and double with three RBIs; and Marlee Flores went 3 for 5 with two RBIs, and in the circle struck out five batters to record the win.
At Hesperia, the Diamondbacks picked up their first MRL win as Wendy Arauz came a double shy of the cycle.
Arauz went 3 for 4 with three RBIs and two runs.
Lilliana Gutierrez went 2 for 4 with two RBIs, one run and one stolen base; Aubrey Malone went 3 for 4 with one RBI and two runs; and Lexi Escalera went 2 for 4 with two RBIs.
For Sultana, Mickee Crowe went 3 for 4 with one RBI; Alondra Flores went 2 for 4 with one run; and Charlotte Thompson went 2 for 2 with one RBI and one run.
At Apple Valley, the Knights shut out the Eagles for the second time this week and improved to 2-0 in Agape League play.
Emily Garcia struck out 10 in a five-inning no-hitter; Kelsey Walker went 3 for 3 with one RBI and three runs; and Victoria McGowan went 3 for 4 with two RBIs and two runs.
At Victorville, the Hawks improved to 2-0 in Desert Sky League action with a victory over the Jackrabbits.
In doubles action, Silverado got sweeps from the teams of Mark Enriquez and Angel Espino (7-5, 6-0, 6-0) and Samuel Rodriguez and Bryan Castro (6-4, 6-1, 6-0). Tony Sam swept in singles action (6-1, 6-2, 6-0).
At Hesperia, the Bulldogs improved to 5-3 in MRL action with a victory over the Scorpions.
Issac Vega swept in singles action for Oak Hills (6-1, 6-3, 6-1).
For Hesperia, Matai Morton and Emanuel Cruz swept in doubles action (6-1, 6-0, 6-0).
