The Ravens defense has spent the offseason focused on one thing: getting back to the standard. Defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver said one trait has stood out above everything else during OTAs.

"They care," Weaver said. "They care, and they all have a little bit of a chip."

Weaver acknowledged that Baltimore's defense fell short of expectations last season and believes the players have responded appropriately.

"There's a history we're kind of chasing defensively in this place," Weaver said. "Everybody, to a man, knows we fell short of that a year ago."

Rather than dwelling on the past, Weaver said the focus has been on daily improvement.

"When they're in the building — and truthfully probably a lot of times when they're not in the building — they're trying to do what's required to make that happen," Weaver said.

The Ravens have long been known for elite defensive play, and Weaver believes the current group understands exactly what is expected.

"It's a daily chase," Weaver said. "But we're just going to keep trying to do the next right thing."

For a franchise built on defensive excellence, the pursuit of the standard never stops — and the Ravens believe they're back on that path.
