Angels could have robust trade market for ex-Yankees versatile infielder originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.

The Los Angeles Angels are looking likely to be trade deadline sellers, but with owner Arte Moreno not wanting to trade away from the roster, a selling deal might be a little tricky to come to fruition.

If the Angels were to get the green light to sell and kick-start a rebuild, some very interesting names could be dealt. Reid Detmers, Jo Adell, and Jose Soriano are three worth keeping an eye on.

But, as Jim Bowden of The Athletic highlighted, if the Angels decide to sell, former New York Yankees infielder Oswaldo Peraza might bring about a robust trade market for one reason: his defensive versatility.

Angels' Oswaldo Peraza might have a robust trade market

"Every contending team is looking for players who can play multiple positions, and Peraza provides just that, as he can play second and third base, shortstop, and the outfield," Bowden writes.

Peraza is a 26-year-old versatile infielder who is under club control through the 2029 season and is in the middle of a breakout season.

Through 71 games played and 222 at-bats, Peraza has 1.7 bWAR with 11 doubles, two triples, seven homers, 21 RBIs, nine steals, a .266 batting average, and a .740 OPS.

But it's not just his offense that makes him a bit appealing. This season, Peraza has spent a lot of time at second and third base, and he also has some playing time at shortstop and even first base.

While he has not played in the outfield once during his MLB career, Bowden's note of Peraza being able to play in the outfield could make him even more appealing.

A good utilityman is a very valuable commodity in baseball, and Peraza might be on the move this summer if the Angels look to sell.

There are far worse players teams could add this summer than Peraza in the trade market, and while the Angels don't have to trade him, they might receive some hefty offers that could be hard to refuse.

This former Yankees prospect might be one player to keep an eye on for this season's MLB trade deadline. He could have a robust market as a highly-sought-after versatile player, and Los Angeles might receive some very intriguing offers.
