The Los Angeles Angels pulled out their first win of July on Wednesday with a 13-1 blowout victory over the Texas Rangers.
The Angels' offense scored 13 runs in one game, and prior to that, they combined to score 11 runs in the first five games of July.
On Thursday night, Texas jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the third, and it extended to 5-1 in the bottom of the fourth.
Yet, the Angels had a massive five-run inning to tie things up at 6-6 in the top of the seventh.
In the end, a Wyatt Langford RBI single was the game-winner for Texas in a 7-6 victory.
It also marked Langford's first game back after being activated from IL, and he was the hero.
Reid Detmers, who has emerged as a popular trade candidate, went four innings and allowed five runs on seven hits.
In the end, it was veteran Kirby Yates who gave up two hits and the game-winning run, dropping his record to 0-4.
The seventh-inning outburst was a team effort. All of Wade Meckler, Nolan Schanuel, Jorge Soler and Jo Adell drove in runs via singles, and Schanuel had a two-run single.
Schanuel had four hits with two doubles and two RBIs, but the Angels came up short due to Langford's heroics.
All-Star Mike Trout had zero hits with an RBI, and Meckler and Schanuel combined for six of the Angels' 10 hits in the game.
Chase Silseth threw a shutout inning in relief, and Brent Suter threw one inning with two hits and one run.
Ryan Zeferjahn and Sam Bachman each threw a scoreless inning, and the Angels had hope until the Rangers walked it off.
The Angels now drop to 20 games below .500, and it should be an interesting few weeks leading up to the August 3 trade deadline with a lot of players in Anaheim expected to draw interest in the trade market.
The road trip continues as the Angels go on the road to face the Minnesota Twins for three games before heading home to face the Detroit Tigers and St. Louis Cardinals in a six-game homestand.
On Friday, Grayson Rodriguez has a 2-2 record with an 8.06 ERA and he will face off against Zebby Matthews, who is 4-5 with a 4.43 ERA.
There isn't much hope in Anaheim, and the Angels continue to be one of the worst teams in baseball.
