Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti did not reveal his plan for Neymar in the World Cup last-32 match against Japan on Monday but said the forward is physically able to play for longer than just 15 minutes.
However, the Italian added at a news conference on Sunday: "Ultimately, that will depend on how the game develops and the situation that awaits us in tomorrow's match."
Neymar, still the most expensive footballer in the world, had missed the record world champions' first two group matches due to a calf injury.
The veteran, 34, was brought on in the 75th minute in the 3-0 win against Scotland to loud cheers from Brazilian fans in the stadium.
