The Boston Celtics defeated the Toronto Raptors in their first NBA Summer League game this offseason, winning a close battle 83-80. The win also marked the first victory for head coach and former Duke alum Amile Jefferson, who was named as the Celtics' head coach this summer.
Jefferson received plenty of support from Duke alums, as both Jayson Tatum and Jon Scheyer were in attendance. Not only is Tatum familiar with Jefferson due to his time with the Celtics, but the two also overlapped at Duke during Jefferson's fifth season and Tatum's freshman year. As far as Jefferson and Scheyer are concerned, Jefferson worked as an assistant under Scheyer with the Blue Devils before departing to the NBA.
