For fans of the Boston Celtics, each summer's Las Vegas Summer League proceedings are a chance to get a look at some of the prospects who could make up Boston's youth movement in campaigns to come in fun, low-stakes games. But the Sin City Celtics are not just there to prove their potential on the court and then take in the sights of the popular Nevada tourism destination.
There is a lot of skill training in practice as well, which Summer Celtics head coach Amile Jefferson broke down in a recent interview (via CLNS Media). "On both sides of the ball, we have a ton of amazing coaches and they're all really creative," began Jefferson.
"And so we put in a bunch of different things, game plan-wise, and we taught these guys a bunch of new techniques for stealing the ball, for being defensive playmakers" he continued.
"And that's in a bunch of different ways and that's in practice and then we try to implement it in the game -- and then offensively, having coordinated attacks.
"And one of those things is transition, not just talking about transition, but actually putting a game plan in for transition ... trying to be creative and find different ways to get things on film that maybe can help us during the season."
