The Commanders have terminated the contract of PS center Michael Deiter.

The Commanders announced the signings of WR Nick Nash and G Tyler Cooper to reserve/futures contracts.
I like Nash coming out of San Jose State last year. UDFA. Spent time on the Falcons practice squad.
— Ben Standig (@BenStandig) January 6, 2026
Cosmi’s interview on 1067 today was interesting. Loves Klif, but
1. Wants an identity in the run game and commitment to it. Believes that will just open up everything
2. Wants the offense to slow down some so that they can better identify what a defense is doing pre-snap

Important moment from Hard Knocks – Josh Johnson and Marcus Mariota talk gratitude, Jayden Daniels says, “all the great ones, successful ones go through adversity.” David Blough leads the QB meeting. pic.twitter.com/pyt3UUeYR1
— JP Finlay (@JPFinlayNBCS) January 7, 2026
Blough makes a lot of sense there.
If Blough gets the job — Daniels would have lost his OC, QB coach and assistant QB coach. At least he’d still have Sam Hartman for now. https://t.co/0OPkfXjwjq
— Grant Paulsen (@granthpaulsen) January 7, 2026
It will be interesting to see what happens to Washington's offensive staff — and how much changes around QB Jayden Daniels. He liked working with this staff. Already lost Tavita Pritchard; need to try to keep asst QB coach David Blough (whom Kingsbury brought with him).
— John Keim (@john_keim) January 6, 2026
And I wonder how it then impacts Marcus Mariota, who liked playing in Kingsbury's offense. He has said often how much he likes playing here. But he felt KK's O helped him. What does he then decide? He's been good for Daniels as well.
— John Keim (@john_keim) January 6, 2026
Talked about this on the podcast, but the offensive players were high on this offense and on Kingsbury. Liked the system. Usually in cases like this you know the [private] frustrations prior to the move. But if you're DQ, last chance as a HC have to do what you think is right
— John Keim (@john_keim) January 6, 2026
The Jayden Daniels / Kliff Kingsbury relationship is a fascinating aspect of today's decision. pic.twitter.com/XyjpGNXUcd
— Grant Paulsen (@granthpaulsen) January 6, 2026
Jayden Daniels *did* show support for Kliff Kingsbury yesterday. BUT, I did find this quote interesting when asked what input he'll have on offseason moves regarding the offense:
"I want to go out there and run the offense that I want to run and be super comfortable in it.…

Just got off the phone with one coaching agent who said the Commanders may get a better coach at OC than one of these teams with a vacancy get at head coach

.@kevinsheehanDC believes Washington has a vision for the offense after parting ways with Kliff Kingsbury pic.twitter.com/xMEduhq1SR

#Commanders offensive line coach Bobby Johnson is also out, as others reported and a person familiar confirmed.
The offensive line looked like the team's most stable position group heading into this offseason. Now change there, too.
— Tom Schad (@Tom_Schad) January 6, 2026
I'm a little confused about this one. I think Washington's offensive line is one of the strengths of the team.
I thought Bobby Johnson did a good job with this group https://t.co/0o3l2dG3r7
— Scott Abraham (@Scott7news) January 6, 2026
That would be Dwayne Ledford, whose agent can’t be working as hard as this app today. Plenty of folks stumping for the work he’s done in Atlanta, including @BigDuke50, who knows a thing or two about OL play. https://t.co/JuiF1IUNbp

I can’t believe what things have come to in the NFL. John Harbaugh has coached the Baltimore Ravens for 18 years. He took them to the playoffs 12 times. He won a Super Bowl for them. The last 4 years they were 10-7, 13-4, 12-5, 8-9. They made the playoffs 3 straight years and… pic.twitter.com/p4DnVmT8BS
— Tony Dungy (@TonyDungy) January 6, 2026
There are now seven NFL teams looking for new head coaches: the Titans, Giants, Falcons, Browns, Raiders, Cardinals and Ravens.
— MarkMaske (@MarkMaske) January 7, 2026
This happened quickly this evening. The coaching staff and others in the #Ravens’ building were caught by surprise. There was smoke here but many thought the fire would be put out and Harbaugh would stick. Not to be. https://t.co/d8vuRncR5Y
— Mike Garafolo (@MikeGarafolo) January 6, 2026
A key pressure point in the John Harbaugh dismissal, according to those familiar with today’s discussions, was his refusal to entertain any conversations about potentially moving on from offensive coordinator Todd Monken.
— Dianna Russini (@DMRussini) January 6, 2026
From The Insiders on @NFLNetwork: The #Ravens parted ways with John Harbaugh today and among the reasons — They felt he lost the locker room. Including, but not limited to, Lamar Jackson. pic.twitter.com/ssAUrHE799
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) January 7, 2026
In the first 45 minutes after John Harbaugh was fired this afternoon, his agent Bryan Harlan said he received calls from seven NFL teams expressing interest in his client.
There currently are seven NFL head coach openings, including Baltimore’s. pic.twitter.com/ey5vYsLcrZ
— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) January 6, 2026
When I look at the openings right now, Baltimore is hands down the crown jewel. Great organization. Established culture. A feeling you will get stability from the organization and patience from the owner. Great GM. MVP QB (for now at least). The best roster of all the openings.
— James Palmer (@JamesPalmerTV) January 6, 2026
Amid recent leaguewide buzz about Kliff Kingsbury’s future, many believe Baltimore, paired with Lamar Jackson, would be an ideal landing spot for the now former Commanders offensive coordinator.
That will be a name to watch.

"It's now, the most pivotal decision that will be made in the NFL when it comes to the offseason and what the 2026 season looks like."@danorlovsky7 shares his thoughts on OC Kliff Kingsbury leaving Washington pic.twitter.com/HuhjoOiL59

Kliff Kingsbury is leaving the Washington Commanders to pursue other opportunities..
Kingsbury and Dan Quinn met today and they agreed to mutually part ways #PMSLivepic.twitter.com/jjQV0PNPmE
— Pat McAfee (@PatMcAfeeShow) January 6, 2026
Dan Quinn wanting to run the ball more is odd to me primarily because we know in 2026 that you don't run to possess the ball you possess the ball to run.
Some notes. pic.twitter.com/pR7M8cIakE
— Grant Paulsen (@granthpaulsen) January 6, 2026
Dan Quinn and Adam Peters want to run the ball more.
Yet, we were 9th in rushing attempts with Kliff Kingsbury as OC.
However, here's the breakdown:
120 QB runs/scrambles (2nd in the NFL)
345 RB carries (25th in the NFL)
More rushing attempts for RBs protects Jayden Daniels. pic.twitter.com/RefVibahNE
— District Divided (@DistrictDivided) January 6, 2026
Even this year, when they only got seven not great games from Jayden Daniels the Commanders EPA/P splits were:
Designed run: +.01
Designed pass: +.06
In 2024 it was
Designed run: +.06
Designed pass: +.19
Pretty tough to argue they passed too much! https://t.co/JTQaiVBWst
— Seth Walder (@SethWalder) January 6, 2026
One thing to note: As others have said Washington will look outside for KK's replacement (not 100 % they hire that way however). One thing Quinn felt good about when he set up this offensive staff was having a line of succession IF KK left for a HC job. Clearly things changed.
— John Keim (@john_keim) January 6, 2026
When Kliff Kingsbury gets another gig this offseason, he'll be on three payrolls.
The Cardinals are still paying him for one more season. The Commanders will be paying him for this season. And the new team will be paying him for this season.
— Grant Paulsen (@granthpaulsen) January 6, 2026
Rams OC Mike LaFleur is an intriguing name for the #Commanders OC opening.
He has distinct ties to the new regime, and has the desirable McVay/Shanahan pedigree.

Something to monitor…if Brian Daboll is a candidate to be the next offensive coordinator with the Commanders.
Let's take you back a couple of years ago, Daboll fired now former Commanders offensive line coach Bobby Johnson with the Giants at the end of the 2023 season.
— Scott Abraham (@Scott7news) January 6, 2026
Friendly reminder that Dan Quinn and Brian Daboll were on the NY Jets staff together
They also both started their coaching careers at William and Mary under the same head coach , albeit a couple of years apart from each other https://t.co/QyWGvrgPOV
— T “Resh” Manuel (@reshmanuel) January 6, 2026
A few names that come to mind with Kliff Kingsbury out in Washington:
• Rams pass game specialist Nate Scheelhaase
• Chiefs pass game coordinator Joe
Bleymaier
• Jags QB coach Spencer Whipple
• Giants interim HC Mike Kafka
• Broncos pass game coordinator Davis Webb
•…
— Ryan Fowler (@_RyanFowler_) January 6, 2026
Robinson is in the McVay tree, not Shanahan, but obviously a lot of overlap. If we include McVay tree candidates:
Robinson if he's done in Atlanta
Grant Udinski, Jags OC. Coached under KOC & now Coen, both worked for McVay.
Mike LaFleur is another https://t.co/sMP2Kkf3sg
— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) January 6, 2026
99% sure we pluck a new OC who runs some variation of the WCO and an outside zone running scheme.
So confident, that I’m willing to wager on it.
— Mark Tyler (Hogs Haven) (@Tiller56) January 6, 2026
Anthony Lynn is on staff already, came here from San Fran.
Frank Smith, Darrell Bevell both been working under Mike McDaniel in Miami.
Bobby Slowik on that Dolphins staff too, was also under Kyle in San Fran.
Klay Kubiak is current 49ers OC under Kyle https://t.co/K7SQYfs7xs

The Commanders need a new defensive coordinator. Based on conversations with numerous league sources in recent weeks, here are some names to consider for Washington.https://t.co/4rnHwkNZA9pic.twitter.com/iu1c7EF9OF
— Ben Standig (@BenStandig) January 6, 2026
I don’t think a head coach who may be on the hot seat is going to hang his hat on a guy for defensive coordinator who has not had the primary responsibility of calling the defense.
We saw how that worked with Witt
The next guy to come in will likely have some DC experience
