Don't expect the same old offensive strategy from the Washington Commanders this season.

Washington welcomes a new offensive coordinator this season, after former coordinator Kliff Kingsbury and the franchise mutually agreed to part ways following the season, with Kingsbury now headed to the Los Angeles Rams as an assistant head coach. The Commanders promoted David Blough to serve in the role after he spent the past two seasons as the assistant quarterbacks coach for Quinn. Blough started his coaching career in 2024 after spending five seasons bouncing around the league as a player.

This will be Blough's first shot at running an offense in the league, and reports indicate he will run things a little differently than under Kingsbury, and fans can expect a major shift in the offensive approach. According to ESPN's John Keim, Washington will run a "more traditional NFL offense" under Blough's direction. This comes after Kingsbury had the team operating almost exclusively out of the shotgun and pistol formations.

In Kingsbury's first season with the Commanders, Jayden Daniels set the rookie record for quarterback rushing yards, and the Commanders went 12-5 before advancing to the NFC Championship Game in the playoffs. But last season, Daniels played in just seven games due to an elbow injury, and the Commanders went just 5-12. Now, with the pressure on in Quinn's third year, there will be a change in the offensive playbook.
