With former quarterback Russell Wilson's contract fallout now finally off the books, Denver Broncos linebacker Alex Signleton has a funny contract request for the team's front office.

Singleton, who is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent in March, was asked what he'd like to receive this spring.

"To be the richest player ever, right?" Singleton said, via the Denver Post's Parker Gabriel. "We have a lot of free Russell money, right? I’ll take $35 million a year."

Denver ate $53 million worth of "dead money" in 2024 and another $32 million in 2025 after cutting Wilson. His contract will no longer count against the team's cap in 2026.

Singleton, of course, was joking — and Denver's current projected to have about $35 million of total cap space this offseason. The veteran linebacker led the team with 135 tackles this season despite missing a game in November after undergoing surgery to remove testicular cancer.

Singleton is now cancer-free, and he'd like to re-sign with the Broncos. He averaged about $6 million per year on his previous contract. Now 32 years old, Spotrac.com estimates Singleton has a market value of $4.7 million going into 2026.
