I've been listening to this album a lot recently...especially the song "The Window"....

Personally...Steve Miller deserves more recognition than he has received .. not this for his stellar guitar playing, but also his vocals and lyrics.....

This album is like a "Greatest Hits" album of some sorts, especially AOR staples such as "Fly Like An Eagle", "Rock 'N Me", and "Take the Money and Run" .... "Serenade", "The Window", and "Wild Mountain Honey" are beautifully crafted songs.....The 2 weaknesses of the album were the remake of "You Send Me" (very "sappy") and "Dance, Dance, Dance", however the latter is very infectious......

It's just Steve Miller displayed such awesome versatility throughout his career....especially on this album..."Dance, Dance, Dance" was heavily country flavored, "Sweet Maree" is very "skiffled/blues" sound to it, and "Mercury Blues" is a solid "dirty blues romp" to it, and of course the progressive/highly synthesized sounds of the title track and "Wild Mountain Honey" and straight rock to "Rock 'N Me" and "Take the Money and Run"...

Even though Steve Miller has released numerous albums before and since "Fly Like An Eagle", he hasnt been able to achieve that level again, but still is one of the most innovative modern day musicians.....
