n what can only be described as depressing news, Al Johnson is headed back to Phoenix today after missing the past two days of practice. He had fluid drained from his knee early in camp, after having off season surgery and it was orginally thought that he would only miss Monday's morning practice. Obviously things haven't gone as planned and he's left camp to get it checked out.

So much for the optimism surrounding the OL. Lutui might lose his job and now the starting center can't make it through a week of practice. Worried?

"great"?? Sendlein was solid when he filled in anywhere on the line last season. However, he certainly was not great and, having him take over now means we lose him filling in at guard when needed...

I dunno... losing Johnson this early (if we do) is a serious blow...

Yep. Great. I think that he might even be better than Johnson. As far as depth is concerned, isn't LeCharles Bentley still available? He seems like a low risk high reward option.

If LeCharles Bentley didn't have serious issues with his knee, he still wouldn't be available.

Hopefully, it's just a matter of a quick scope and he'll be ready for the regular season.

Didn't he pass Cleveland's physical?

Sendlein had a great rookie season, especially considering he was undrafted out of the University of Texas. He appeared in 14 games and even more impressively started two games (weeks two and three). During Sendlein's two starts Edge averaged 5.44 yards per carry and the line only gave up one sack. That'll certainly open some eyes especially considering that the opponents were the Seahawks and the Ravens. The coaching staff raves about Sendlein and he could seriously push Johnson for playing time next year, if not this season.

How much did we give AL Johnson the last two seasons? $7 million? More? Fantastic investment. Wasn't it knee injuries that caused Andre Gurode to steal his job in Dallas? :bang:

All of his just comes back to the team and how they should have listened to my Mock Draft last year and taken R. Kalil in the second round and Tanard Jackson in the third.

You are correct. Along with his really dumb roster bonus last year and his knee injury history I didnt like the signing from the get go. ONly good thing about his roster bonus is we can cut him and save 4.4 mill towards the cap with out any cap charges at all.

So much for maybe having the same starting OL two years in a row. We might have two new pieces this season(Brown and Lyle).

The off-season signing of Scott Peters looks like a wise move now. Peters can back up Lyle Sendlein.

And some of us have always wondered about Wells at center, if there needs to be another option.

Good point. I was just about to ask who the new backup might be. Al Johnson has missed three days now. Can anybody at camp tell us who else has been getting a lot of snaps at center?

Thanks in advance.
