Al Ahly reach agreement to renew Aliou Dieng contract

Egyptian media reports revealed that Al Ahly club has reached agreement with Malian midfielder Aliou Dieng to renew his contract.

Dieng has delivered series of consistent performances since returning from his loan spell with Saudi side Al Kholood rejoining the squad ahead of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

His reliability in midfield has stood out particularly at a time when Al Ahly have struggled for stability in the middle of the park.

Contract Situation and breakthrough talks​


Aliou Dieng’s current deal with Al Ahly was set to expire at the end of the upcoming season which would have allowed him to negotiate with other clubs starting January.

However recent developments suggest the club has acted decisively to secure his future.

According to egyptian multiple reports, Al Ahly have finalized agreement to extend Dieng’s contract for three additional year keeping him at the club until the summer of 2029.

The 28 year old is regarded as core pillar in the plans of head coach Jess Thorup featuring regularly across domestic and continental competitions.

His tactical discipline, physical presence and defensive intelligence have made him indispensable in Thorup’s system.

The reports add that Dieng has given initial approval to Al Ahly’s latest offer. The proposed contract includes annual salary of $1.3 million in addition to separate commercial agreement that will see the club’s football company market the player through advertising & promotional campaigns.

It is expected that the final signing will take place after Dieng’s return from the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations which kicks off in Morocco on 21 December where he will represent Mali.

Since joining Al Ahly from MC Alger in 2019, Dieng has built impressive resume at the club.

Across 232 appearance he has recorded 7 goal and 11 assist while playing a vital role in the team’s defensive structure.

His trophy haul includes:
