Airport Rally Friday For Cardinals
City of Phoenix hosts send-off before team flies to Carolina

Cardinals president Michael Bidwill shares a laugh with Big Red while Mayor Phil Gordon reads a proclamation Tuesday in Phoenix.

Earlier this week, Phoenix mayor Phil Gordon declared Friday “Cardinals day” for his city, encouraging everyone to wear red as the Cards prepare to go to Carolina to play in the Divisional round of the playoffs.

The day now will start with a chance to say goodbye and good luck to the team itself.

The city has organized a rally at Sky Harbor International Airport beginning at 8:45 a.m. Friday, with the Cardinals arriving to take part just before they board their chartered flight to Charlotte.

Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon wants a big sendoff for the Arizona Cardinals as they head to Charlotte, N.C., for their NFL playoff game with the Carolina Panthers this weekend.

Gordon called Tuesday for fans to turn out at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport at 8:45 a.m. on Friday.

Fans can park starting at 7:00 a.m. on Buckeye Road, one block east of 24th Street, and will walk across the street to the rally.

Something to note:

Michael Bidwill has been gleeming in every photo I see him in. He gave me a great smile and thumb up at the game in AZ.

Seems like a really nice guy, that truley enjoys his team success.

As well he should, cause that stadium is something to behold.

It is a loaner from the organization! He will neve wear it again after next weekend when we smash the Eagles in the mouth enroute to the Super Bowl!

I listened on KTAR as I drove away.
