The MLB Trade Deadline isn’t all fun and games. When players get dealt, they have to adjust to a new city, a new clubhouse and, in many cases, move their families on short notice. Adley Rutschman is going through that now after being traded to the Red Sox.

Rutschman was supposed to watch “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” at the movie theater with his Orioles teammates before finding out he was the centerpiece of a trade that sent him to an AL East rival in Boston.

The former No. 1 overall pick has been on the injured list with left wrist inflammation since July 20, so one of his first priorities after arriving in Boston was meeting with team leadership and the Red Sox medical staff to figure out what comes next.

“I've got to get with the medical staff here and kind of just see what the next steps are moving forward,” Rutschman said, via ESPN. “I don't exactly know just what kind of timeline and how all that goes.”

Before landing on the injured list, Rutschman was hitting .251 with eight home runs and 47 RBIs. He could return sometime in late August, but the Red Sox are in a position where they don’t necessarily have to rush him back.

Boston has stayed hot after putting together a 15-game winning streak and has since won six straight, including a sweep of the Dodgers. The Red Sox are firmly in the Wild Card race and sit 5 1/2 games behind the Rays in the AL East, with players such as Roman Anthony, Garrett Crochet and Curtis Mead helping fuel the run.

That gives Rutschman some time to get healthy and settled before jumping into a pennant race.

He already knows what to expect from Fenway Park. After experiencing the atmosphere as a visiting player, Rutschman is excited to finally have the Boston crowd on his side.

“Just from playing here, the city loves baseball. It always has a great atmosphere, and I'm excited to play in it,” Rutschman said. “They're playing the game the right way and doing things right. It was cool to watch from a distance. Now being here, like I said -- just trying to fit in and help out any way I can.”
