"Arizona Cardinals officials rarely make draft-day trades, but they just might be getting an offer they can't refuse. Texans officials are said to be offering up the No. 3 pick for Arizona's first-rounder (No. 6) and third-rounder (No. 70). That would all but ensure the Cardinals a shot at Miami (Fla.) wide receiver Andre Johnson."

I don't know what to think about this. Thoughts?

Well, first off they are trading in the wrong direction IMO. The only way a team should trade UP is if they are a player or 2 away from contending...the Cards are not.

Additionally, I find it completely ridiculous they would trade up for Andre Johnson of all people. Leftwich? Yes. Newman? Maybe. Suggs? I wouldn't trade up for him but it is plausible. Johnson? No way.

Yes, but surely not for Johnson

The Cardinals would have a sure shot to draft either Suggs or Leftwhich. If they don't take the trade, they must be content with William or Trufant. I'm from the draft Suggs camp so I would take it and not worry about the Bears or Cowboys or another team trading ahead and taking him. If you really like Leftwhich, then one would like to have the opportunity to clearly get their man. I would do it at the expense of a number three pick in a heartbeat. I would draft Suggs and then nab a CB in round 2, Sammy Davis or Woolfok (sp?) in round 2... thank you Texans... deal done.

Kent Somers writes the TSN reports and I'll ask him about this tomorrow.

Every indication I get is that this is a deal we would have no interest in. I was there, 15 feet from Rod Graves when he addressed a trade-up question and Rod clearly wasn't interested.

The team wants more picks, not fewer.

If the Texans want to trade down then offer them TJ and a 5th rd pick. We need our picks in day one and rd 4 more than any player available at the 3rd slot in this draft. Of course the Texans won't go for this but I have no desire for the Cards to trade up anyway.

If the Texans do accept this trade then I'd hope we would turn around and trade the 3rd pick to the Jets or Pats for both of their 1st rd picks.

I forget who posted it but there isn't a single "blue chip" prospect this year that doesn't have warts. I would take 2 picks in rd 1 just to double the odds that the Cards get a good to great player in this draft. With soooo many needs at sooo many positions they will be able to address two positions in rd 1 easily. The ratings on many players is fairly equal from picks 11 thru 40 anyways so to get 3 of the top 40 players this year would be a great scenario.

No way - not Johnson! Has made a lot of fantastic plays, but also has dropped some easy catches. No reason to trade up and lose a third rounder that whould eventually be an essential part of the team.

I'm with most folks that have posted. I tend to think if the Cards trade it'll be for multiple 1st or 2nd round picks. If they do trade up I pray to god it's not for A. Johnson.

I don't understand why people are still so high on him after every report I read says that his problem is bad hands. He can't catch? That's like drafting an OL who can't block. It's his main job. Speed and strength are fine, but if you don't start with the basics--CATCHING THE BALL--they're worthless.

This rumor is laughable. There's only one player to trade up for and he's Byron Leftwich, not Andre Johnson. Just the same, I don't think the Cardinals will be trading up. I think they will be happy with Leftwich, Suggs or Williams at #6 and all three could very well be available at that spot, therefore no need to trade up.

The other thing that's curious about this rumor is that the Texans have yet another plethora of draft picks this year...thanks to the league's ridiculously generous new franchise draft pick reward policy. In fact, the NFL ought to look closely at this policy. I can see awarding a new franchise extra draft picks the year it enters the league, but with free agency the way it is...it's not right to give the Texans or anyone else extra draft picks in the second year. Heck, the Texans didn't even have the worst record in the NFL its inaugural season. And Carolina made it to the NFC Championship in what its second or third year? This isn't right.

Just think, if it shakes down like it is supposed to the Cards could have a tough decision.
Cincy-Palmer
Detroit-Rogers
Houston-Johnson
Chicago-Robertson
Dallas- either Newman or Suggs
Arizona-either Newman,Suggs, Leftwich, or Kennedy.

Now three of those four could easily have been the first pick of the draft. I have no idea what I would do.

You might want to add Trufant.

If that happened - and the Cards rated all of these guys equally - a case could be made for trading down a few rungs in order to pick up an extra 2nd or 3rd round pick while still being assured of getting one of those dudes.

But you know what? My gut still says "Grab Suggs. He's special."

Either way we will pick a franchise player if we stay put.

If we draft any of those five players I will be happy. If we draft Johnson I will be pissed.

Bidwill is not in the habit of trading up to pay more money for a player.

Outcent I like your projection if there are no trades and yest this will be one that would be tough to pick. I suspect our team at this point knows exactly which one they will take if it falls this way. You just got to take the guy you think will be the best player in the long run not the guy who will help us THIS YEAR.
