It's getting harder to ignore the noise about Aaron Donald.
After the Los Angeles Ramspulled off the trade of the offseason for two-time Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett, speculation ran amok that Donald, arguably the greatest defensive player in NFL history, would come out of retirement to form a dynamic duo with the Rams' defensive dynamo.
One of Donald's former teammates in Los Angeles has now fanned these flames.
In an appearance on Locked on Rams, Michael Brockers, who played with Donald on the Rams from 2014 to 2020, maintained that Donald has made sure to stay in tip-top shape. Even in retirement. Why? He wanted to be prepared for a moment like this, where he could have a teammate like Garrett who could make his life so much easier. Oh ... OH!
Here's a clip of Brockers' explanation of Donald's current mindset:
Of course, staying in shape is only one thing. Donald still has to actually pull the trigger and unretire, which would undoubtedly send shockwaves throughout the NFL. Nonetheless, it is notable that someone close to Donald, like Brockers, would share this insight.
It shows that, at the very least, perhaps there is a fire to all the smoke of this unretirement talk.

Aaron Donald's former Rams DL teammate @MichaelBrockers HINTS to me and @lockedonbush that he's heard #99 may ACTUALLY end retirement to play with Myles Garrett:
