Oklahoma Sooners freshman guard Aaliyah Chavez has had an incredible debut season for OU. She leads the team with 18.4 points and 4.2 points per game. For a record-tying eighth time, Chavez was named SEC Freshman of the Week. She's tied with former Kentucky star Rhyne Howard with the most Freshman of the Week honors iin a season.

As the Oklahoma Sooners extended their winning streak, going 2-0 last week, Chavez averaged 17 points and 3.5 assists per game. This season, Chavez has 21 games of 15 points or more and has been a key factor in Oklahoma's season.

Oklahoma finished the regular season 23-5 and 11-5 in SEC play, earning the No. 5 seed in the SEC women's basketball tournament and a first-round bye. The Sooners open the SEC tournament on March 5 and await the winner of the first round game between Florida and Mississippi State.
