North Carolina's search for a new head coach is just a few days old, and so far, there hasn't been much movement.

A few coaches high on North Carolina's list are still in the NCAA Tournament, so there likely won't be much action until at least after the weekend. But the consensus continues to be that Dusty May, Tommy Lloyd, and T.J. Otzelberger are among the top candidates for the Tar Heels.

However, on Thursday, one college basketball analyst put some water on the flame for one candidate.

The Field of 68's Jeff Goodman stated that Otzelberger is NOT in the mix at North Carolina right now.

"TJ Otzelberger is NOT in the mix at Carolina, and by his own doing. Not by Carolina's doing," Goodman said on Thursday. "He was in their first tier, according to sources. Give him credit, he's a different dude. Most guys would walk from Ames to Chapel Hill. He loves it there. He loves Jamie Pollard. He's loyal and they are going to take care of him. He's obviously built up equity here."

Goodman went on to cite how family played a big role in this and that being at Carolina, it's a fishbowl. This also lines up with Otzelberger's comments on Wednesday, declaring he's the coach at Iowa State.

With Otzelberger off the board, the focus shifts to Tommy Lloyd as the big target.
