The Athletics announced Tuesday that they have placed rookie infielder Joshua Kuroda-Grauer on the 10-day injured list with a ruptured testicle.

Kuroda-Grauer sustained the injury during Monday’s 5-2 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks. He fouled a ball hard off the handle of his bat, and it ricocheted directly into his testicles. He fell immediately to the ground in pain.

Kuroda-Grauer remarkably recovered enough in the moment to complete his at-bat. And he notched a single to center field.

The injury marked an unfortunate conclusion to what had already been an eventful night for Kuroda-Grauer. In his previous at-bat in the second inning, Kuroda-Grauer hit his first career MLB home run for a 1-0 Athletics lead.

The A’s didn’t offer a timeline for Kuroda-Grauer return. Here’s hoping for a quick recovery for Kuroda-Grauer on and off the field.
