Every game feels like the biggest game of the season for Nebraska basketball. Especially when they are fighting for a top 4 seed in the Big Ten Conference tournament. If the regular season ended today Nebraska would have the double bye and would not have to play until Friday in the tournament. They have tiebreakers over both Wisconsin and Michigan State. This means that they essentially have a two game lead over both.
If they would like to hold on to that two game lead then they need to continue to get wins which brings us to tonight’s game AT Iowa.
Iowa is not ranked but they are a much better team that Northwestern which was a game in which you expected Nebraska to go on a run and pull away which is exactly what happened.
Iowa is 18-7 and 8-6 in the league. Their best wins this season would be USC and UCLA which both were at home. They will be motivated tonight as they need to get some wins in order to stay in the conversation for the NCAA tournament. Unfortunately for them four of their last six games come against ranked teams.
There is also the Pryce Sandfort factor for tonight. He played for Iowa last year so you expect that there might be some emotions for this game. Hopefully the Huskers have a business-like approach.
Iowa is led by a “throw back” player in Bennett Stirtz. He looks like he could have played for Indiana under Bob Knight with his haircut but the kid scores 20.4 points per game with 4.6 assists per game as well. He could get hot and knock out the Huskers tonight.

Iowa (18-7, 8-6 B1G) comes off a 78-57 home loss to No. 13 Purdue on Saturday. Bennett Stirtz led Iowa with 19 points and five rebounds, as the Hawkeyes were held to 38 percent shooting including 6-of-22 from 3-point range. Purdue hit 12 3-pointers on the day and led by as many as 27 points in the second half to stay tied with the Huskers for third in the Big Ten race. Stirtz enters the week ranked fourth in the Big Ten in scoring (20.3 ppg) and is seventh in assists (4.7 apg).
