49ers now know asking price for Maxx Crosby trade originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The San Francisco 49ers had their season end in brutal fashion. After a terrific regular season that saw the 49ers earn the No. 6 seed in the NFC playoffs despite a campaign riddled with injuries, they defeated the Philadelphia Eagles in the wild card round. However, they then travelled to Seattle to face the Seahawks in the divisional round where they were blown out 41-6.
One of the big losses the 49ers had on the season was Nick Bosa, who tore his ACL. Many have been saying the 49ers should make a big splash to put another top edge rusher opposite of Bosa, who has unfortunately been prone to injury.
One big-name edge rusher that could be on the move is Maxx Crosby of the Las Vegas Raiders, whom Tyler Sullivan of CBS Sports projects could be acquired in exchange for first and second-round picks.
"Crosby is one of the best pass rushers in the NFL, and we've seen that these types of elite talents can fetch quite a haul," Sullivan writes. "Green Bay sent two first-round picks and defensive tackle Kenny Clark in exchange for star pass rusher Micah Parsons last summer. Parsons was 26 at the time of the trade, and Crosby will be entering his age-29 season in 2026, so a possible return may come in just under what Dallas received. It's worth noting that Crosby is signed through 2029, but only has $30 million left in guarantees remaining, which comes in 2026. That means an extension could also be on the horizon for teams looking to acquire him."
Crosby was shut down at the end of the 2025 season after playing with a knee injury. Upon being told he wouldn't finish the season, he stormed out of the Raiders' facility, which is where the trade speculation began.
While the cost may be high, Crosby could be the piece that finally gets the 49ers over the hump and helps deliver a Super Bowl to the Bay Area.
