The San Francisco 49ers have brought back a few of their own free agents this offseason, while others have signed with other teams for the 2026 season.

Still, several players who finished 2025 on San Francisco's roster are still unsigned, including Jauan Jennings, who ESPN's Matt Bowen ranked as the best free agent left on the market on Friday.

"At 6-foot-3, 213 pounds, Jennings is a consistent route runner who plays through contact and makes himself available to the quarterback on in-breaking targets," Bowen wrote. "He caught 55 passes last season for an injury-riddled 49ers unit, scoring nine touchdowns. Jennings was even better in 2024, when he ranked 12th in ESPN's receiver scores and had 975 receiving yards."

Jennings agreed to a restructured contract last summer, which helped him earn incentives throughout the year, but he really wanted to cash in on a long-term extension.

After the first big wave of free agency, and with San Francisco still having quite a bit of cap space to spend, it will be interesting to see if the team and player have interest in reuniting this offseason.

Jennings isn't a No. 1, but he found success in the role in 2025. Being behind the newly-signed Mike Evans in 2026 could make things much easier for him as well as everyone else on offense, including Christian McCaffrey, Ricky Pearsall and George Kittle (when he returns from his injury).
