The San Francisco 49ers on Monday after their bye week made a pair of corresponding roster moves that brought in a new linebacker and sent an offensive lineman to IR.

San Francisco claimed linebacker Garret Wallow off waivers according to an announcement from the team. He was waived by the Denver Broncos on Saturday. The 2021 fifth-round pick of the Houston Texans spent two-plus seasons in Houston and part of a year with the Tennessee Titans. He didn't play in the regular season in 2024 before landing with the Broncos this offseason.

Wallow has played in 42 games with five starts across his five NFL seasons. He has 47 tackles and 1.0 sacks with one pass breakup and three tackles for loss. He has largely been a special teams contributor after getting five starts at linebacker in his first two seasons. Those years he played 304 defensive snaps combined. Since then he's played in only 49 defensive snaps in 14 games. Wallow has played a ton of special teams, however, which is where he figures to play in San Francisco. He has 671 special teams snaps under his belt including 132 in seven games this season with the Broncos.

To make room on the roster for Wallow the 49ers placed Bartch on IR. He hurt his foot in the 49ers' Week 13 win over the Cleveland Browns. Head coach Kyle Shanahan indicated Bartch's season is over. Spencer Burford figures to slot in as the new full-time left guard.
