After a limited number of sections in temporary seating areas at Cowboys Stadium were not completed in time, 400 fans were not able to attend Super Bowl XLV on Sunday. Two hours before the game, workers were frantically trying to fix the sections or get the fans "relocated to similar or better seats," valued at $800. The NFL found alternate seating for 850 of the 1,250 fans affected. The 400 who were not able to be seated were given a refund of triple face value -- $2,400.

That's definitely not funny for the 400 fans. Imagine you paid 2500 for your ticket plus room, airfare, rental car, food etc... Yet u only get 2400 in return? So your out well over a grand and no ballgame to boot. I would be freaking peeved. Certainly not funny IMO.

Most definately...not cool. I can already see the lawsuits coming JJ's way now...couldn't happen to a nicer guy.

Sucks for them. Laughing at Jerry Jones - this makes him look like crap.

Lawsuits await.

Sounds like from watching TV reports here in Dallas that the NFL might have had as much a hand in the problem or more than Jones. Most fans also stood in line after passing thru security 2-3 hours before even getting inside the stadium because many entrances to the stadium were closed. Also sounds like fans that were stupid enough to by party passes outside got soaked by rain sometime in the 4th qtr & many cleared out.

It goes beyond money.

As those were $800 seats, I'm guessing that wasn't your celebs, but mostly your real fans of Pittsburgh or Green Bay. How would you feel if you'd scraped your money together to go watch the Cards in the Super Bowl -- only to find you don't have a seat after all?

While it leaves egg on the face of JJ...can you imagine the disappointment of those fans? I dislike the cowboys and JJ as much as anyone, but certainly not laughable when people who have nothing to do with that franchise suffer.

I'm hearing conflicting reports about this. NFL channel this morning said that they were allowed standing room only spots behind the benches. KFFL says they didn't get to stay for the game, but got mondo perks because of it.

NFL | Ousted fans to receive free tickets

The 400 displaced fans who missed Super Bowl XLV after replacement seats inside Cowboys Stadium were deemed unsafe will receive free tickets to next year's Super Bowl XLVI, the league announced Monday, Feb. 7, according to NFL.com. NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy stated that fans who missed the game were allowed onto the field after its conclusion. They also received free merchandise, concessions, $2,400 - three times the value of the $800 seats - and will receive complimentary tickets to next year's Super Bowl.

That stadium has suites behind the benches but you have to watch the game on TVs. I know that they put some in there. That wouldn't be acceptable to me. Another guy pointed out that he bought his tickets on the secondary market so he payed much more than face value. After the money he spent on travel, lodging, etc. he took a major bath. Finally, one father bought tickets for him and his son who is in the Air Force and stationed in Guam. Just a little pissed. The NFL and Jerrah screwed this one up badly.

That is quite certain. I mean, I love that they get all kinds of things, probably more than what they laid out (tickets to next year's SB included), but that isn't the point. This was a special moment for them that was completely ruined.

Imagine if the same scenario would have happened to 400 of us 2 years ago in Tampa...I would have stroked out from the anger after strangling someone from the NFL.

Good to see that plenty of people always have the solution and everything always goes right for them.

That situation is completely unacceptable! Its not like it was 400 people stuck in a city due to weather and their airplane couldn't make it there. This was human error and an egregious one at that.

I'm not saying it was OK, I'm saying sometimes things happen that no one can forsee or control, it just does. It seems these days that alot of people are ready to raise hell. Does anyone really think that somebody purposely set out to screw this people? NO They spent alot of time and thought and still crap happens. It will happen next year too one way or another in a different area. Here in Nashville back in May when the flood hit, the Opryland hotel had to evacuate people at the last minute because the water rose faster than they were told it would. On TV that night were all the people bitching about having to be moved. It was disgraceful the way those people acted. Laughing about the misfortune of the organizers of the Super Bowl and the situation just makes the person doing it look juvenile. Would it have been OK for them to laugh at someone else and say it couldn't happen to someone more deserving? NO I challenge any of the yahoos on here to describe just what they would have done to do it any better and if they are truly honest they will admit that they wouldn't have forseen it any more than it was.

Word. That had to suck for the fans.
