The Miami Dolphins moved on from Bradley Chubb earlier this offseason and still have Quinton Bell all on the market, leaving the team with a need for an edge rusher before the 2026 season starts.
They've added some help to the room already, including Joshua Uche, who could end up starting opposite Chop Robinson when Week 1 rolls around.
Before that happens, let's formally introduce the linebacker to Dolphins fans.
Uche played collegiately at Michigan from 2016-19, appearing in 39 games and recording 56 tackles, 16.5 sacks, three passes defensed, three forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.
In 2019, he earned All-Big Ten honors with his 8.5 sacks. His teammates voted him Defensive Player of the Year.
The New England Patriots took Uche in the second round (No. 60 overall) of the 2020 NFL draft. He spent most of five seasons in New England, one in Kansas City and one in Philadelphia, recording 109 tackles, 37 quarterback hits, 21.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, one pass defensed and one fumble recovery in 76 games.
Uche's best year came in 2022, when he recorded a career-high 11.5 sacks in 15 games with the Patriots.
When he entered the league, Uche went by Josh, but he's started going by Joshua in 2024 to honor his father, Emmanuel.
Uche has always been an efficient pass rusher, but in 2025, no one in the NFL has as many quarterback pressures (23) in as few pass rush opportunities (143) as he did. He also led the league in pass rush win rate in the season opener, per the Miami Herald's Barry Jackson.
