Slovenian ski jumper Domen Prevc added Olympic large hill gold to his plethora of recent achievements as he shrugged off normal hill disappointment in style on Saturday.

Four Hills winner, ski flying world champion and large hill world champion Prevc, also the runaway World Cup leader, was only sixth in the normal hill competition won by Germany's Philipp Raimund early in the Games.

But he recovered to help Slovenia and sister Nika to mixed team gold and now has the individual triumph he craved after coming from behind. His brothers Peter and Cene never achieved individual Olympic gold.

"I feel like I’m at the cinema watching the guy doing his thing," Prevc said about himself.

"But now all of these feelings are coming together, its amazing. Before the last jump I just wanted to enjoy it. I think it’s one of the most memorable jumps of my career."

Japan's Ren Nikaido, who led after the first of two rounds and claimed bronze on the normal hill and mixed team, had to make do with silver on the larger Predazzo hill.

He had jumped a huge 154 metres to Prevc's 147m first up, but in the second jump, Prevc surged to 154.8m for 301.8 points to Nikaido's 295 points after an underwhelming distance of 141.

Prevc added: "I said to myself the enjoyment that I have, this is why I started ski jumping as a kid - and if you enjoy it and keep trying eventually you can win medals."

Polish teenager Kacper Tomasiak took silver from nowhere on the normal hill and on Saturday added to his breakthrough Games with a bronze on the large hill.

Raimund was only ninth on the large hill, with 2022 champion Marius Lindvik of Norway not even making it through qualification after the first jump.

Sunday brings the women's large hill event when Domen's sister Nika will go for glory having missed out to Norway's Anna Odine Strøm on the smaller hill. A men's super team competition is on Monday.
