Tomas-Llorenc Guarino, a figure skater from Spain, has the most beloved routine in the sport.

He dresses up like a Minion from the Despicable Me movie franchise, and he skates his short program to the Minions song.

But less than a month before the 2026 Winter Olympics, Guarino was told he wouldn't be allowed to use that song.

It was heartbreaking in multiple ways. For one, it would mean he'd need a different routine than the one he got to the Olympics with. It would also be a bummer for fans who have come to adore Guarino's routine.

Then, shortly before the Olympics started, Guarino learned the song licensing rights had been approved. He could use the Minions song. He'd get to perform his incredible short program.

That's what happened on Tuesday in Italy. And it was glorious.

¡UNA PERFORMANCE HISTÓRICA, TOMÁS!

Guarino isn't expected to contend for a medal.

Instead, he's just contending for love.

The minion skater alone has given me enough laughs for the whole week. Well done.

Kudos to Guarino, and to those who allowed him to use this song. It's absolutely, incredibly wonderful.
