NFL great Terrell Owens’ trip to Indianapolis is one he likely won't soon forget.

The Hall of Famer found himself stuck in a flooded car on the city's east side. He was a passenger in an Uber ride when the vehicle stalled under an overpass in the middle of a flooded street Friday night.

Owens went live on social media with the incident.

“I’m going to have to swim out of this mug in a minute,” he said in an Instagram video.

Owens, who said he was just leaving the Indianapolis Pickleball Club, showed the water coming into the car.

He called Uber support.

“The driver tried to drive through this water and we got stuck. I need help,” he told followers. “I don’t know why he would drive through this.”

Days of heavy rainfall last week left streets in Central Indiana streets flooded.

Storms Wednesday night dumped up to three inches of rain on Indianapolis creating flash flood warnings across the metro area.The Uber driver identified their location in the 3700 block of East 10th Street.

Owens could be heard shouting to folks nearby for assistance “Yo! Somebody call the police.”His followers didn't appear to be super helpful. Former NBA guard and coach Mark Jackson was among those to respond to Owens’ post with prayer hands emojis.

Others encouraged the 6’3” six-time Pro Bowler to simply walk to safety.“Hunnay being tall has some advantages..... walk King please don't sit there!!! “ one follower said.

“He needs to turnaround and lift himself onto the roof,” another offered.

Why was Terrell Owens in Indianapolis?​


Owens was in Indianapolis for the National Invitational Tournament where his alma mater University of Tennessee at Chattanooga beat the University of California, Irvine at Hinkle Fieldhouse.
