The NBA offseason has been nothing short of exciting. Teams have done everything they can to improve their rosters, whether through blockbuster trades or by signing players to fill key holes. Superstars are being traded at a historic rate, and it feels like almost every free agent has found a new home. Some teams have turned themselves into legitimate contenders, while others have made decisions that have left fans scratching their heads. Here are three teams that could regret their offseason moves.

The Celtics feel like the most obvious team on this list.
Boston finished last season as the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference, behind an MVP-caliber season from Jaylen Brown, while Jayson Tatum recovered from an Achilles injury. Instead of building around Brown, the Celtics traded their young superstar to Philadelphia in exchange for Paul George and some picks.
They also signed Mitchell Robinson, who brings toughness, rebounding, and overall tenacity but offers very little offensively. He’s not a reliable scorer and remains one of the league’s worst free-throw shooters.
Boston took a clear step backward this offseason, and the decision to move Brown could come back to haunt them.
The Hornets were coming off their most impressive season since beginning their rebuild, led by LaMelo Ball and a promising young core.
Despite that, Charlotte traded Ball for Naz Reid and draft picks. The trade likely promotes Coby White to the starting point guard. White is an excellent scorer but a subpar playmaker, while Ball is among the best playmakers in the league. On a team full of scorers, this is an obvious downgrade that will affect the team’s offensive production.
The Hornets also moved Miles Bridges for rotational depth.
Instead of building on last season’s momentum, Charlotte took a step backward and left plenty of NBA fans wondering why.

The Heat landed Giannis Antetokounmpo, one of the best players in the NBA. So how could they end up regretting the move?
Miami gave up Tyler Herro, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kasparas Jakučionis, Kel’el Ware and a massive haul of draft picks. That’s essentially the franchise’s entire future. It leaves the Heat without any proven guards, and beyond that, it leaves Giannis and Bam Adebayo as the only notable players on the roster.
If the Heat don’t land LeBron James, this offseason will be remembered as an utter failure.
