How to Apply to Be a Volunteer at the 2028 LA Olympics

Applications to volunteer at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic and Paralympic Games open on Tuesday, July 14.

Volunteer roles will fall under one of nine categories, which applicants will rank based on preference in the application: Ceremonies, Communications, Driving, Experience, Medical, Operations, Sport, Technology and Volunteer eligibility.

Requirements To Volunteer at LA Olympics​

LA28 listed four requirements to be eligible to volunteer at the LA Olympics:

• 18 years old or older at the time of applying
• Be proficient in English, reading and writing
• Be available for a minimum of 10 nonconsecutive shifts during the 2028 Olympic Games period (March-August 2028) or Paralympic Games period (August-September 2028). Shifts are approximately eight hours.
• Be present at one of these locations during the above periods: Greater Los Angeles, Oklahoma City, New York City, Columbus, Nashville, St. Louis, San Jose and San Diego

Volunteers do not have to be U.S. citizens or California residents to be eligible. However, the volunteer roles are unpaid and do not cover travel or lodging expenses, according to LA28.

Volunteer Opportunities Available Now​

In preparation for the LA Olympics, the LA28 Volunteer Crew is “helping support local organizations across Los Angeles focused on sustainability, restoration and the wellbeing of our venue cities.”

The inaugural volunteer event was back in December 2025 when the volunteer crew worked with Heal the Bay as part of LA28’s Resilient by Nature initiative. Then, volunteers joined Friends of the LA River to clean the Sepulveda Basin.
