Last weekend, Texas A&M coach Mike Elko and his staff hosted two of the program's top priority prospects in the 2027 recruiting class, as five-star cornerback Joshua Dobson and five-star linebacker Kaden Henderson made their way to College Station for their official visits.

For Dobson, the Aggies remain atop his list of preferred destinations, while Henderson, who also received a prediction to land with the Aggies, is still considering staying home and playing for the Miami Hurricanes, but based on his recent conversation with On3 recruiting insider Steve Wiltfong, the Florida native is still trending to land with Texas A&M in the coming weeks.

Needing to secure a blue-chip linebacker, which has been an issue in years past, going back to former five-star LB Anthony Hill flipping his commitment to Texas, starring for the Longhorns over the past three seasons, has yet to be remedied, even though three-year starter Taurean York was one of the program's top linebackers despite being a highly underrated three-star prospect.

Still, winning these recruiting battles for linebacker prospects who can simply "do it all" at a position that is much more complex than simply making tackles in open space is critical, especially since Elko has already secured 5 five-star commits in the No. 1-ranked 2027 cycle.

After his OV, Henderson stated to Wiltfong that he and Dobson have become good friends during their recruiting journey, and while he will take an OV to Notre Dame this weekend, nationally considered Texas A&M's most significant competition, it's clear that, as the kids say, the vibes in College Station moved the needle for Henderson before announcing his commitment.

“I had a great time,” Henderson stated to Rivals. “Just the class they have being surrounded by the best guys in the nation. Also a school the priorities their defense and take pride in it.”

Similar to Dobson's recent statement, Elko continues to prioritize defense given his background as one of the top defensive minds in college football, and as Henderson stated, being surrounded by the cream of the crop talent-wise in the 2027 cycle has to be enticing, even if his visit to Notre Dame provides the Fighting Irish a fighting chance.
