NASCAR has tweaked Daytona 500 qualifying:
—the top two open cars in single-car qualifying are locked in and they aren’t racing for the spot allotted to the top open car in each duel
—the remainder of the open cars race for the one spot available in each duel.

New language in the NASCAR rulebook as part of the latest bulletin:
"As determined by NASCAR, once a vehicle exits pit road during a Qualifying attempt, the driver’s hands may not be used to redirect air in any manner including but not limited to, touching the window net, blocking air from entering the cockpit, redirecting air from the window, etc. Non-compliance will result in loss of Qualifying time."

Brad Keselowski OK'd for Daytona after Charlotte on-track test today. A Jan 30 x-ray showed enough healing. Keselowski:"Getting cleared was a huge moment for me. You put in the work, you trust the process, but until you hear that final ‘yes,’ nothing is guaranteed."

Chase Briscoe believes that the Daytona 500 has always been prestigious, but he thinks it increases now that it's not a win-and-in situation. He believes the return of The Chase will also prevent situations like when he spun himself and Tyler Reddick at Bristol Dirt.
