Had to take a break from cardinals for a bit - probably one of the worst off seasons I can recall in the last 20 years

Coaching hire debacle > QB malpractice > all these off season huge miss steps from management down to players regarding gambling to firearms.

This team is truly bottom of the barrel with short of beck being some kind of miracle wonderkind QB - no end in sight.

Ah well- at least football is back in some capacity

With an improved OL, improved Running Game, LR does not think we will have below average QB play, this year. That's an easy prediction. What is hard is that a lot of haters will never buy it.

JB, bless his heart, is not capable of supplying consistent winning QB play.

“Entertaining”? Sure. He’ll fearlessly stand in the pocket and throw it all over the yard. He’ll stack up some stats this year en route to some 27-38 losses. 100%.

Not in his pedigree to get this team to eight wins though my friend, or any team to a conference championship.

He’s gonna throw it in dirt in the clutch too often, or make the killer mistake at some other point in the game.

I love him to death to be honest. He’s a true warrior and a leader too. But he’s never going to be a winner in the NFL unfortunately.

Hope he gets paid and gets out of the game with his health intact at least. All things considered, that would put him in the 99th percentile for a career for a QB (with the data set being everyone who’s ever played QB at any level). It’s quite an achievement to have stuck in NFL for so long.

Agreed CW. And despite your laudatory words (which I agree with 100%) I'm ready to move on and not think twice about it.

What does this mean? He’s never going to win the Super Bowl? I agree.

Can he be as productive as Bryce Young? Absolutely. Bryce Young was a playoff QB last year.

Jacoby is 20-45 as a starter. That’s obviously Cards-under-Ossenfort bad.

But.

Prior to these last two engagements he was 18-30 as a starting QB. Obviously that’s not what you want but Sam Darnold was 21-35 before his arrival in Minnesota and Geno Smith was 13-21 before he became the starter in Seattle.

Jacoby Brissett could be the 8th best starter on a good offense.

I'll only comment on the Bryce young comment. They made the playoffs with an 8-9 record. If the Cardinals didn't play in the NFC west your point might make sense. Obviously there's no correlation between the divisions.
Are you saying Mlf is a top 10 HC in the NFL?

Can he be as good as 42-year old Aaron Rodgers? He was a playoff QB with a 44.4 QBR.

I don’t think the Cards are going to make the playoffs, but I think Brissett can be good enough that we’re not eliminated from the playoffs before Thanksgiving.

That assumes the defense is, like, adequate. I don’t think it’s going to be. But this could be a top 10 offense with probably 20+ QBs starting right now.

I don’t think MLF is a top 10 HC but I think the Shanahan/McVay offensive infrastructure, if MLF can implement it, sets a pretty high floor for an offense.

One thing I've notice over the few years I've been here. The members that express the most "lack of enthusiasm" are the ones who are most excited during the actual game threads. The members that are optimistic about the cards are more neutral. That's a weird dynamic for both sides...is what I think Siggy Freud would say.

Of all the things you have disliked about this team with countless post of pure haterade…

I’m floored that you are a JB fan and think he is a winning QB. For what it’s worth I hope you are right- I just think you are dead wrong. JB can put up garbage stats against back ups when the starters have been benched - but almost never was able to show up when the games mattered last season. Make any excuse you want for him- no situation is perfect and good QBs make do with a lot less weapons- he just ain’t one of them

we were ass backwards on our win predictions last year - any chance the same happens this year? any chance we get hot?

i'm not going to say it's impossible - i'm not going to say we can't put 30 points on the board against anyone - if our offense clicks - it is indeed that loaded

naysayers can nay away - because the same goes for our defense which again is loaded - all depends on which rallis shows up - is he going to murder or bend and ultimately break

i'm upping it up to 6 wins this season

I don't think it is out of the realm of possibility. Look at the rushing attack that Brissett had to work with when he took over for Kyler. His best runners were Bam Knight and Michael Carter. No team in the NFL respected that backfield.

So yeah I could see 6 wins with Love, TA, JC and Benson as the RBs stable this season. That is a massive improvement over what Brissett was working with last season.

i think lafleur will have a tough call on when/if to call it a season and give beck a shot - brissett might not give him a chance

There is a path for the Cardinals to be better but still not good. That path mainly goes through the offense top 50% due to an improved run game/scheme, average system QB execution, positive health regression, non-division opponents, and the defense being 16th-24th. Just my opinion.

i can see that - i'm not counting on it of course but i can see it (and more) - there's just so many variables

Kevin Clark calls this “bad and fun.”

We want to avoid being “bad and sad.”
