Accepting that you have to draft a certain way because your team can't develop draft picks is a level of poverty thinking I can't get behind.
Not poverty thinking...adjusting for reality as it is. Living in a fantasy world in which we can pick a player...then make him better at his position..is getting us nowhere.

Good for CC, he deserves better than what he experienced last year. It's a shame but he should be on a team with a good chance to get to the playoffs.

Sad, I wanted him back for another year. Looks like he wants to go out with a winner. Can't blame him.

and yet, that is how competitive teams operate so it isn't a fantasy land which makes your perspective a poverty mindset.

oh this is rich.
explain to us now exactly what makes you think Arizona is a competitive team.
They aren't but I am not willing to concede my expectations of them acting like one.

"A poverty mindset is a psychological framework rooted in scarcity, fear, and the belief that resources are limited, often causing individuals to feel trapped in lack, self-doubt, and risk aversion, regardless of their actual financial status. It acts as a survival mechanism developed from enduring poverty or trauma, frequently causing people to avoid necessary growth, opportunities, and change due to the fear of losing what little they have."

Calais Campbell gonna retire a Raven which is nearly an unforgivable offense by Bidwill and the Cardinals franchise.

Yes, this is a dramatic response but also another example of how LOssenfort is the worst.

Definitely a big blow given how well he played last year on an overall bad defense. I still think the DL room is ok overall with depth, but a lot more reliance on hopium without CC than with him.

There's a lot of sins you can ascribe to Ossenfort, but i don't think this is one of them. Ossenfort signed Campbell last year and good on him. Campbell deciding to play, what is probably his last year, for a team with legitimate Superbowl aspirations is not hard to understand.

The DL room might be the worst in the NFL. Campbell and Tomlinson were the two most consistent and arguably best DL players on a bad DL last year. Now they are gone without any real proven talent on the line to replace them. Roy Lopez is a fringe league average NT at best who played 39% of snaps on a competitive team last year.

Part of a GMs job is signing talent which means convincing them that they are wanted and getting a deal done. Either Monti failed to sell Campbell that he was wanted back or Monti failed to build a roster Campbell thought could compete. Either way, Monti failed.

That's why it was incredibly dumb to cut Tomlinson. Especially since we haven't come close to spending the cap dollars saved, let alone replacing him.

Monti losing out on 100% of competitive free agents is the most damning thing about his time here. It’s frankly hilarious how bad at his job he is.

We could potentially sign him to a one day contract if he wants to retire a Cardinal.

A GM's failure to sign any one particular player can hardly be the reason to denigrate the GM. Players choose to go or not go to a particular team for a variety of reasons and I'm not sure that Ossenfort could have done anything different after last season to entice Campbell to sign with the Cardinals.

Now, arguing that Ossenfort has done a crap job in free agency on the whole over the last 4 years is another story. On this, I'm 100% with ya.

Why do guys sign with teams? They want to win. They want to get paid. They want to be somewhere familiar.

CC played with the Cardinals longer than the Ravens. Ravens have a new HC who had one year of overlap but did not coach his position. So, no more of a personal connection than CC has in AZ. The Cardinals have a ton of cap space so cost shouldn't be an issue. Maybe Monti does want to win, but Monti had an entire year with CC and couldn't convince him that AZ had a plan to win. Fairly pathetic which has been the common theme with LOssenfort.

Don't worry, Dante Stills is the next Zach Allen. (at least according to some on this board)
