He has tools. I think that if everything goes well he could eventually become as good as Jacoby, but his ceiling is certainly higher. His arm has looked weak ever since he tore his UCL, him being viable in the NFL means he will need to recover more than he did last year.

No downside? Here’s the downside: 4 of the next 5 picks were OT, Edge, OT, Edge. I would have preferred to take one of those at 3. That’s where our needs are. Fill them first. Beck likely would be available at 4. I think you draft starters with your first 3 selections, then grab backups beginning with picks 4 through 7.

Taking a flier on a QB is a great idea but no sense not pulling the trigger. I like this pick as he's a good kid actually and it's not like we're expecting him to play right away. Better than Slovis

Yall acting like monti burned the 1st pick of the draft. It’s a 3rd round flyer - everyone chill. It’s a weak qb class and monti already mucked up free agency for QB. We need a flyer. Best case- he lights it up, worst case we are drafting a qb in 2027 and only lost one 3rd round pick.

He knows he wasn't a top pick. He knows next year is supposed to be a bumper crop of quarterbacks...and he knows Jacoby Brissett played us into a fired HC and a top 5 pick.

If he wants to keep his job..he has to bust ass...earn the starting job...and play us out of the top 20 picks in next year's draft.
If he does that then he is our QB and the job is his...
But if he plays us back into a high pick his replacement is incoming.
Simple scenario.
If that don't light a fire under his ass then he ain't cut out to be an NFL QB.

This doesn't make sense because by this time next year how are we going to know if this "works out". He's not going to start 10 games and give us a definitive answer one way or another.

Lots of factors play into it.
But I would hazard a guess that with 6 games of him preparing as the starter every week we should have a good idea who Beck is as a pro.
That will give our opponents time to collect tape on him and analyze his tendencies.
Then we get to see how he adjusts to the league adjusting to him.

Getting exposed takes less time in the NFCWest than in some divisions... 6 weeks should let us know if Beck has a future under center or on pine.

And at No. 65, they took a swing on a quarterback. As we saw throughout the College Football Playoff, Carson Beck can drop the ball in a bucket. His ball placement is really, really good, especially downfield. I don't know that he pushes past Brissett or Minshew to start, but he's a worthy shot in the third round. Arizona couldn't ignore the QB position, and this pick both gives the team another option in 2026 and doesn't keep the team from going in on the 2027 class.

I'd say Brissett gets the extension with Beck learning for a year, or seeing action as the backup. Or they don't pay Brissett, and Beck starts. Both seem possible.

Jocoby Briskett is old. The staff knows this.
Uncle Rico isnt old...but has a few years in the league displaying his wares and making his case to be a starter.
Coach Flower knows exactly what he has in his QB room and he already knows that what he has is insufficient.
Enter Carson Beck...a Guy who is far younger than Briskett, has more physical tools than Menshew,...and a better college resume than both of them.

Considering our situation...from end to end,...why would ant coach let the 2026 season come to an end qithout knowing exactly what they have in Carson Beck??
They wouldnt. Its malfeasance to allow that to happen knowing there will be a slew of replacement options in next years draft.
Carson Beck will get plenty of opportunities. Likely more than a third round QB has been given over the past 20 years.
Because they have to know.

The name that sticks in my head with Beck is Chris Weinke. Older, high profile, successful college QB, tall with physical tools, capable of starting early, not going to be a franchise QB.

Weinke was popular with his teammates and admired for his toughness. He was a better runner.

I thought he said in the Gruden video he had a minor procedure this offseason to help with a nerve issue hurting his velocity. Maybe I misunderstood what he was saying though.
