If this were true we would never see professional football people (a) draft interior olinemen high; or (b) give them substantial contracts. And yet we see both all the time. I’m just not a believer that couch gms know that much more - particularly with such a simple concept - than so many professionals.

We see lots of teams regret doing it.

I’m withholding judgment because I don’t really know anything. This just isn’t that convincing to me because college guys make these plays all the time.

I’ve asked @DVontel what game of Nabers I should watch to fall in love with him. I watched every snap of the Alabama game and he looked good not great.

For me, it's Odunze's clear strength of winning jump balls, but he game wasn't just jump balls. Nabers wasn't even in the same hemisphere on contested catches, and neither was Harrison Jr.

Even if you subtract the jump balls from Odunze's game, he still posted very respectable numbers.

The biggest detractor star on Odunze is the yards per route run. It wasn't exceedingly high because UW has two other draftable receivers, but I'd argue that he still was the primary guy and the way he beat defenders is why I'm interested.

Murray was at his best when he had Hopkins that he could just throw an occasional 50/50 ball to. Murray needs that security again.

His explosion whether with or without the ball in his hands that even Marvin doesn’t posses. His separation in both the intermediate & deep levels are also elite. He can break a game open like Ja’Marr does.

The fact you say he looked good against two first round CBs says quite a bit.

I like Rome a lot, I really do, but we already have McBride & Wilson. We’re probably going to use a 3rd round pick on another WR, too. I don’t want all of our weapons to just be contested catching magnets. Having both Rome & Wilson would be a little bit of repetitive considering neither are YAC-threats.

Nabers is that guy that could take an 8 yard catch from our 35 yard line for a TD. Rome isn’t that type of guy.

Replace Nabers with Justin Jefferson here & the same thing was said verbatim about Jefferson. Even the very last two sentences.

I don't think you consider Wilson at all at this point. McBride is a YAC guy for a TE, he doesn't exactly catch the ball and go down.

This is not it. What I said might be a bit premature, but to consider him nothing at all is wild.

Murray also isn’t Zach Wilson either where he needs gigantic frames to bail him out. If Murray can produce with Greg Dortch, he can absolutely produce with a super-super charged up version of him in Nabers.

both the highlights were clips of Nabers basically taking a hitch or a swing pass and then running away from people ( college players, but still)

Wilson is still a project, at best. I hope we are not comparing a 1st round WR, especially a top 5-10 guy with a 3rd rounder flyer. If so, then we should not go anywhere near that guy. However, I think Harrison, Odunze and Nabers are infinitely better than Wilson.

McBrides job is to find soft spots in zones and sit down, make a catch and turn upfield...or catch in stride and go...just like Kelce and Kittle. None of those guys are 50/50 jump ball receivers. Jury is out on Wilson being a jump ball receiver, too. He might be, but we don't have a ton of evidence that he can do it on a consistent basis.
