Player Summary:

A multi-year starter and consistent role player who is a one year starter at Miami after spending the previous four seasons at Oklahoma where he had significant starting time. An undersized and solid built corner that has solid AA, quick feet, twitchy hips and solid football IQ.

Displays IQ pre-snap with adjustments and disguises post snap to adjust to offensive motions and plays as they develop. Quick reaction to development using his eyes and IQ to quickly read r/p as well as determining the route concepts. Good in man coverage as he is able to match receiver routes using quick hips and solid short area burst to get into phase and stay in phase as the play develops. Has the speed and awareness to play in zone coverages. Solid eye discipline and ball skills to make plays at the POA.

Has inconsistent footwork in zone drop backs and at the line. Adequate downhill transitions, plants his feet before transitioning to downhill running. Questionable play strength and body balance, loses his footing when there is too much bumping while in phase and trips or loses leverage.
Scheme Fit:

Has the ability to play in man and zone defenses while showing a higher ability to play man including press man.
Power Statement:

An undersized corner who has the ability to play at the next level can use his AA, IQ, ability to play man and zone to play a rotational role as an outside corner or have a greater role as a nickel corner as he works on his footwork and adds some mass.

Jaden Davis is a smart, quick defensive back who transferred to Miami from Oklahoma this season. Hula Bowl scout Tyler Moore breaks him down as an NFL Prospect in his report.

Pre-Draft Analysis

Davis played at Oklahoma for four seasons and Miami for one season. He is undersized with short arms, but he has an outstanding closing burst and runs well. He's tough and willing to get involved in run support. -- Steve Muench

Does he project as a good special teams player or is this more of a value pick for the corner ability?

Matt Miller: is an excellent open field tackler who will contribute initially on special teams. As mentioned above, he started 4 seasons at OU and transferred to the U for his 5th. Has Short arms and is undersized but has outstanding burst and exceptional closing speed. Ran 4.44 forty. Will have to learn to play inside in the NFL.

Sounds like he could be a nickle at some point.

Round 7: No. 226 (from New York Giants): Jaden Davis, CB, Miami

My take: Davis has the experience of playing high-level football, having started his career at Oklahoma before finishing it at Miami, but he's entering a crowded cornerbacks room. Starting may be a long shot but Davis could find himself on the field if the injury bug hits Arizona.

I mean, we could always add someone like Yannick Ngakoue. The offseason doesn't end today. Not that I'm proclaiming him as a major piece, but worth a tire kick for the regular season. We also can't give up on Ojulari immediately after taking him in the 2nd last year.
Maybe. But that hasn’t happened yet. Lots of hope about Rock Ya Sin and other jokers around here last year and we added no one of value after the draft.

Hopin Beej and Zaven combine for 22 sacks in 2024 legit plan leggo

Yannick is toast. Cardinals ride with the kids and hope to coach them up.
