What a misleading heading. I don't know about the other posters here but even though I'm in my 60's, any non Cardinals thoughts for me would be about good looking sexy women not football. :D

- Ladanian Tomlinson is the best football player in the world

- the Chargers (same record as Cardinals in 2003) are the most underrated team in football. Too bad Marty is their HC and will cost them in the long run. I think this team has the players to win the Super Bowl as soon as next year if they upgrade the HC.

- Something's wrong with Roethlisberger and Palmer, in hindsight neither should have played this year and I really hope they don't turn into the next Kurt Warner

- the Giants (again same record as our beloved Birds in 2003) are the best team in the NFC and second place is not even close. My bad, Coughlin was a good hire.

- the Colts will not go undefeated nor will they play in the Super Bowl. I have this hunch Belichik was saving some running schemes for their January matchup and decided to see if he could throw on them.

- How does Denver start Jake Plummer, Mike Bell, and four defensive linemen who are last in the NFL in sacks and continue to win? They're going nowhere in January, but will get to double digits in w's...again.

- This weekend's games hammered down the point that the Cardinals are the most poorly coached team in football. Honestly, watching the rest of the NFL and them is like night and day.

Two best statements right there!

I also agree with you on the SDG team. I do not agree with you about the Giants however.

I think this is the Colts year. Manning's Achiles heal has been the 3-4 defense, first New England and then Pittsburgh last year. Indy have beaten NE in their last 2 matchups and will most likely have home field advantage if they meet in the postseason, which means no playing in snowy Foxboro. The Steelers are not making the playoffs this year. No one has the offensive firepower to keep up with them and they've shredded 2 of the best defenses in back to back weeks.

NO ONE expected them to lose last year either - with a much better defense and home-field. The Steelers game was a HUGE upset. Bottom line, until Peyton proves he can win a big game at any level, they'll always be suspect come playoff time.

to your first point: I agree and I wonder if some teams will start looking at Seneca as a potential starter as some teams have looked at backup QB's in the past (for ex a guy like Delhomme or Gerrard)

as to you second post: I was always under the assumtion Dan Snyder ran the Skins like we run our Madden Franchises and that the GM's a puppet they break out for Xmas party entertainment.

as to the third point: Colston was drafted.

Marques Colston

  • Position: WR
  • Height: 6'4"
  • Weight: 231
  • NFL Exp: 0
  • College: Hofstra
  • Drafted: RD 7, PK 44 (OVR 252)
  • Birthdate: 6/5/1983
Birthplace: Harrisburg, PA

My own thoughts?

Just one: I think the Cardinals and the Raiders are having some preverted contest as to which team can have the worst offensive line. Much like in the way a group of friends will have a contest to see who will sleep with the ugliest girl.

I hate both of these contests.

I think Seneca's height (5'11) will keep teams from seriously pursuing him as a QB of the future. He's just too small.

- How Marques Colston went undrafted, I'll never know. He is incredible

He was drafted late in the 7th round, IIRC.

- Rex Grossman is so overrated it's beyond funny at this point

Been saying this for quite a while now...he isn't that good and thank God the MVP talk has ceased. He has a terrible habit of throwing off his back foot far too often.

The Bears downfall which started in AZ is going to snowball after this loss

Yeah, they've got some good teams on the schedule now...they've had an incredibly easy go of it early on and they lose to Miami who is struggling hard, and almost lost to us while we were struggling with a rookie QB getting his second start. The Bears are overrated...glad the undefeated crap is over. The Super Bowl talk will end soon enough now. The Pats will destroy them.

You would have thought that Reggie Bush would have done SOMETHING by now

Not going to bash him because I do like the kid a lot, but he isn't the best fit for that team since he is a second back and KR/PR at the moment. Deuce has come back strong, but the threat of Bush has helped them out because he's a decoy when on the field. You'd think he'd be more of a player than a decoy though, but again I truly feel he is in a situation that doesn't fit him. If he were on a team where he was a featured back, we'd see some good stuff from him. A case of them having to take him because of his skill, their draft position, Deuce coming back from yet another injury and a look towards the future. He'll be good in time...just not a ROY candidate.

- Why is Vince Young starting? He is really lost

Well, the Titans kinda suck, and they might as well get him some on the job training because he is incredibly raw. I didn't think he was a high first rounder, and definitely not ahead of either Leinart or Cutler, but he'll be decent to good, with a very outside shot at really, really good as time goes by. He needs the reps live though, and they don't have anyone else. Their biggest mistake was letting McNair go because he would have been great mentoring VY....as he had already worked with him in the past. Very dumb move IMO.

My own thoughts:

I am suprised at Jake's play of late...Javon Walker has been a god-send to Plummer...they have great rapport. Your loss, Green Bay.

Chester Taylor has suprised me...I didn't give him much credit but have to eat crow there.

Maroney is a monster...an oustanding, powerful and fast runner. He's a stud of the highest order.

Jones-Drew looks great and will be the heart of that team for awhile. Fraud Taylor is so done.

The Niners offense is better than advertised...Gore is a good player if he can stay healthy. Davis will be very good. If they fix their D, they will be fighting us for division titles for years to come (if we can fix our Oline).

The NFC West freaking SUCKS out loud. Which really sucks for us to lose three games at home by a total of 6 points. We'd be in the mix if we could close out games.

Pittsburgh is just terrible. Big Ben should wear a helmet at all times from now on, because he needs to protect his brain...he is making rookie mistakes. That team is a major disappointment.

What happened to Miami? My lord...that team should be much better. Here's a hint...you have a dude on your team that could be a top ten, maybe top five wideout in Chambers and he is practically ignored in the offense. I see him open all the time, but nobody else does. Wes Welker is a hard working dude though, and I love his play.

Devin Hester is scary as a return man...wow.

DeAngelo Hall is one of the best CBs in the game...just an outstanding player. How I wished we could have drafted that guy...he's a beast. Champ Bailey is the best cover corner in the game since Deion, but people actually challenge Champ and he shows up time and time again.

Mike Bell isn't fumbling every other play...color me SHOCKED.

Ocho Cinco is the most entertaining guy playing football...screw the fines bro...just keep doing what you do.

The taunting and celebrating penalties are incredibly stupid and not called consistently.

This is the Colts year...yes, they have played close games against some subpar teams (Titans come to mind) but they have found a way to win. Addai is a good runner and he had an incredible run last night that should have been a 1 yard loss that he turned into a 12 yard gain. That offense just keeps clicking, and Peyton gets incredible protection...you can't give a guy like that so much time if you are a defense, unless you just WANT to lose.

Some of the actions on field have been completely out of line...the knee to the groin tonight, the stomping on the head earlier in the season. Have some people just lost their damn minds?

How do NE fans boo Vinateri?? That guy won them so many HUGE games he should be absolutely un-booable. What is this, the Philadelphia Patriots??

- The Bears are really, really good despite people calling for their downfall. They play defense and run the ball extremely well and have a fair-enough pass offense.
- Peyton Manning is a demi-god. When he wins his first SB (by beating the Bears) this year, he'll be a full-fledged god.

Fraud Taylor is so done.
Every year everyone wants to declare Taylor done. I don't really kow whay that is...is it because he's burned so many people in fantasy?

He's having a really nice year--despite splitting carries with MoJo Drew.

136 carries for 633 yards (4.65 average); 3 TDs

It's not completely fair to extend this accross the season, but if we were to do that we're looking at 1,200+ yards.

Lot of WR's coming out this year at various levels. Colston has been mentioned Greg Jennings of the Packers huge steal, Holmes and Jackson are starting to show why they were first round picks. Roy Williams is BLOWING up in Detroit this year, on a 1400 yard pace with Kitna as his QB and a bunch of unknown guys playing Wr, and as always he's been playing with nagging leg injuries all year. Donte Stallworth was in the process of doing the same thing when he got hurt(again). Reggie Brown is blowing up.

What the hell happened to Michael Clayton and Keary Colbert, great rookie years, complete duds since then? Jeremy Green has said several times on ESPN that Clayton parties too much, is out all night, doesn't take the game seriously, I have no idea about Colbert I thought he had a good rep at USC.

I've mentioned this before but so far the vaunted USC pro prospects on that NC team are not faring well. Mike Williams is a bust, Colbert has vanished, Bush is a decoy, LenDale White is just starting to play, Justice is inactive most weeks, Deuce just starting, Matua not playing at all, even the TE(drawing a blank on the name) isn't doing anything yet. Everyone talked about how talented that team was but so far the only guy doing anything is Leinart and even he has struggled the last 2 weeks. I think many of them will be good players for years but they have started awfully slow.

The Raiders are the only organization that is more screwed than ours. How can they continue to let Tom Walsh be the OC, and how can they not accept that the game has passed Art Shell by and he's just doing this out of loyalty to Davis, his heart isn't in it at all? Robert Gallery is stealing money, Randy Moss again how many drops is he going to have this year? Even LaMont Jordan appears to be coasting(although he's got a back problem). THeir DC Buddy's son deserves some sort of medal for getting those guys to play that hard with such a crappy offense week after week.

Big surprise of the year for me is Philip Rivers, I thought he'd prevent the Chargers from doing anything, he's playing great ball.

Holmes has been absolutely killing the Steelers with his fumbles, he has fumbled probably 7 times inside his own 35 this year. He is a pretty good WR but as a returner he is one of the worst players in the game.

EDIT: Also, I think the TE is Byrd.

5 fumbles already, 2 lost. Hester is doing the same thing but he's broken 2 for TD's.

Holmes gets a lot more PT than Chad Jackson does with NE right now but both are starting to show why they were picked so high, starting to get it.

Yes Dominique Byrd thanks. None of the rookie TE's are doing anything, Marcedes Lewis got hurt, came back but lost his job because they're playing less 2 TE sets now and Wrighster started getting the ball more. Davis is out hurt of course. Byrd doesn't even have a catch yet this year. They all have talent of course.

There have been several Defensive players that have really impressed me this year:

- Madieu Williams (I've always liked this guy and he is finally playing healthy)
- Rashean Mathis
- Ian Gold (probably the most underrated LB in the league)
- Antonio Pierce (another fantastic LB)
- Mark Anderson (DE from the Bears)
- Charles Grant (this guy plays the run better than almost any DE in the league)
- Peppers is having a great season
- Bart Scott and Adalius Thomas (hopefully both Pro Bowlers this year)
- Justin Smith
- Jared Allen
- Kerry Rhodes
- Sean Considine
- Kampman
- Josh Bullocks (this guy is one heck of a S)
- Michael Boley (easily the best LB on the Falcons)

Thoughts?

Holmes has definately lost more than 2 of those fumble (I understand you are getting the stats from a site but I've watched him all season and he fumbled at least twice last game). Coclough was doing the same thing before Holmes and I don't think there is anything more frustrating than that in the NFL.

Speaking of Rookie TEs, I have really liked what I've seen from Fasano, I didn't really watch him in college but he is an excellent blocker.

- Rex Grossman is so overrated it's beyond funny at this point
- The Bears downfall which started in AZ is going to snowball after this loss

Point #1 - Yeah the media (ESPN mostly) went ape over Grossman. I am not sure he is over-rated but more likely over-hyped. The thing about Grossman is, he is either really good on Sunday or really bad on Sunday. There doesn't seem to be much middle ground. Part of the growth process of a guy who hasn't even had a full season of starts under his belt yet (only 15 starts total I believe)

Point #2 - I guess we will see. It isn't as if the Cards, or even Miami for that matter, somehow exposed the Bears weakness other teams can exploit. Turnovers were the sole problem in those two games...6 turnovers in each game...and when you turn the ball over 6 times in a game, you almost always lose. Plain and simple. Now is the big test:

@ NYG
@ NYJ
@ NE
MIN

I believe 2-2 in this stretch is doable, and maybe 3-1. NE and/or NYG will trip them up during this 4 game stretch. Alot depends on Urlachers injury. With Brown out, the Bears D can ill afford Urlacher to miss any time.

He's obviously no Urlacher, but I think Hillenmeyer (sp?) will surprise. He's always played well in spot duty.

I think Manning (Colts) is the best QB I have ever seen and I have been looking at them since 1943. You almost do not need an OC with him at QB.

I agree that some of the marquee free agent moves that Washington has made are stupid, but if you look at their under-the-radar moves (Antonio Pierce, whomever they're playing at WLB right now, their entire defensive line, the guy that replaced Archuleta), someone is doing something right in the Redskins' front office. I would not mind taking a hard look at whoever that guy is (the Redskins don't post their front-office personnel on their website), because they make some savvy personnel moves when Snyder stays the hell out of the way.

Shawn Merriman is the best defensive player in the league....in only his 2nd year.

Shaun Alexander has officially started on his decline years.

Leftwich will be Leftout.

Chris Simms is done. TB will be in the market for a new QB next year. Gradkowski isn't the answer.

Kellen Winslow will never be the player he thinks he is. Charlie Frye will never be a QBOF for Cleveland.

LeCharles Bently will never be the force he could have been before his injury.

Plummmer will fool someone into thinking of him as a 1st stringer next year......once again, he'll score another payday.

St. Louis will win the NFC West.

I'd love to trade Edge......but he wouldn't garner anything more than a 3rd rounder.
