I was wondering today just how much of the 5-2 defense CP is going to use in the games ahead. He used a version of it this past week on a couple of occasions, as Hayes and Pace were lined up over the guards...

The 5-2 favors the Cards' defensive personnel...and the lineup that would be most intriguing in it, IMO, would be:

LDE Okeafor

SDT Moore

NT Clancy

WDT Smith (they have to play this guy...too talented to sit, IMO...and weak side DT would be made to order for his talents

RDE Berry

SMLB Hayes

WMLB Darling (Pace, if healthy)

SS Wilson

FS Francisco

LCB Rolle

RCB Green

2nd Unit:

LDE Blackstock

SDT Watson

NT Lewis

WDT Dockett

RDE Smith

SMLB Wilson (why not...this guy could really clean up the trash...and would be unstoppable blitzing up the middle)

WMLB Huff

SS Rolle (his most natural position?)

FS Ware (his most natural position?)

LCB Tate (how about trying Ferri at CB too...the guy has the wheels and he can falt-out tackle)

RCB Macklin

Food for thought...

Me thinks some of you are writing off Dockett a little quickly.

I like the 5-2. I hope we see more of it. As far as Dockett goes, I'm not writing him off, but I think a little dose of bench wouldn't hurt him.

I wonder if we can trade Clancy to Seattle for Russell Davis?

The 5-2 is great in running situations, but I feel like 6 people is too few to cover the field. Unless you plan on dropping a DE or two into coverage a la Julius Peppers.
