ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) – The 18 Sports Blitz returned with an exciting night on the ice and hardwood.
High school girls basketball highlighted this week’s edition of the Blitz, as Odessa-Montour sophomore Leah Antes made history. Antes scored 17 points in the Grizzlies’ 41-33 victory over Tioga, reaching 1,000 points in her career. For more on Antes’ historic night visit the following linked article.
In addition to the big night in Tioga, several state ranked battles took place across the region. Horseheads pushed past Johnson City 60-44, in a clash of 6th ranked teams. Elsewhere in Section IV, #4 Susquehanna Valley outlasted Elmira 57-55. Watkins Glen protected their #14 ranking with a 57-30 victory over Lansing. The Lake Hawks’ effort was paced by a 15 point, 17 rebound double-double from Olivia King.
On the boys side, #27 Corning improved to (14-0) on the season, with an 83-68 win over #20 Oneonta. Fresh off of a school record 42 points, standout sophomore Nolyn Proudfoot led the Hawks with 27, while Kyler Stevenson added 22.
