Dak also showed out in camp and preseason. If Beck doesn't do that, then I don't expect him to be the answer. Players that have got it, tend to have it right away, not develop it.

Yes, and another thing is that Prescott was a 5th year senior, 23 years old as well and started 33 games (played in 49) in college. You can also include Russell Wilson who also was a 5th year senior, also 23 years old, and had started 50 games.

Certainly not all that are a little bit older-, very experienced-, and very successful quarterbacks become great in the NFL, but on the other hand, none of the opposite QB-profile (very high potential, but not much more) ever becomes an NFL success. You would have to go all the way back to Kirk Cousins in 2012 to find someone that did not have a lot of success in college but managed to turn it around in the NFL. And even Cousins had a lot of starting experience.

A big disconnect on this board is that many folks say Brissett is terrible but also say he needs to be off the roster for Beck to get a shot. If Beck is good, he will start sooner rather than later. Brissett is not going to block Beck unless Beck is just not good.

Yes, apparently. As far as I can tell, people's wish to cut Brissett has nothing to do with Beck.

I'm all for letting Beck start. He has most of the things people on here say they look for.
Size, arm strength, mental outlook, and one of the most important things, college game experience. He's ticked most of the boxes that most people on here say they look for.
Except for one---he was chosen in the 3rd round, and not the first.
But, because he is a third rounder, he's no longer good enough.
Of course this is all my opinion from what I get out of most of the postings on here.

My preference is just to let the group of mid compete against each other and may the best player win the starting job. I don't see any reason to force anything. Especially because Beck was a good not great college QB who benefited from being on some world beater rosters. Just my differing opinion.

My thoughts is we have good enough talent to compete in the nfcw - our entire focus should be win the division one game at a time. Run first
I think James Conner is still more effective as run first option to start - opening up the pass game - Love will grow into it. Offense has juice with new he
Defense was bad with good talent and they kept the DC?
They have grown up a year together,, should be better, but under achieving - I blame coach. Will see I guess.
Rabbit is the key in nfcw - Thompson was great - is rabbit better? They tore us up there last year!

I don't understand the expectation that some fans have for Carson Beck to start some games this year. Teams that pick quarterbacks in the third round don't view them as their future franchise QB or else they would have picked them earlier. There's always an outside chance that Beck will develope, but he has to show some promise before he earns playing time. I don't expect to him earn a starting role in any games this year.
