1 – I have wanted them to add a WR for a long time, but I must admit that I am a bit intrigued by Xavier Weaver and Simi Fehoko. Weaver played very well in the first game, and in this, he had a great catch and later looked to be causing a pass interference from a defender (to be fair, he also had a drop). Further, I have been advocating them to bring in Gabe Davis for a visit, but Fehoko is basically Gabe Davis with another name and special team qualities.

My point being that they do have WR-talent on the roster.

2 – Blake Gillikin looks as good as last season. That will be a weapon.

3 – Great game at RG by Jon Gaines. Best player on offense.

4 – I was really looking forward to study Elijah Simmons, but it was P.J. Mustipher who kept showing up, both as a pass- and run defender. At least practice squad-worthy.

5 – It's not that I want to keep piling on Kei’Trel Clark, but I mean... that’s tough to watch, dudes.

6 – I cannot see a world where Elliott Brown or Benton Whitley makes the roster, but both have certainly played better than Xavier Thomas, and obviously Ojulari, through two games. If I were in Ossenfort’s shoes (and by the way, why am I not?), I would keep one of them, put Ojulari on PUP to start the season, and try to get Xavier Thomas and the other of the two on the practice squad.

7 – Demercado has to be above Michael Carter on the depth chart week one.

8 – They have a lot of good safeties, but Kitan Crawford is certainly one of them. He has a chance.

9 – DT Patrick Jenkins will be a difficult evaluation for the coaches. Most plays he has no impact, and then once in a while he suddenly looks like the second coming of Aaron Donald.

10 – I have always wondered, when people say, “it can always get worse.” Then what is the worst it can get? I mean, something has to be the extreme, right? Well, now I know. It is to have Clayton Tune start a meaningful game.

biggest thing in Crawfords way is Blount..he aint a bad player. But if the coaches see it as a close call, they may decide to go with youth and potential.

Demarcado has been above Michael Carter for a couple seasons.

glad to see Gaines post some good tape..he is right up against it this year IMO

Blake Gillikin is a stud...one of these days we need to lock him up for a minute.

My main take away was Will Johnson isnt quite ready. He was terrible again.

Palmer had the drop, they look identical out there in uniform. The announcers initially said Weaver and then corrected it to Palmer once you could see the players number. Weaver's miss was a ball thrown behind him on a crossing route.

Not too much to come away with here except our 3rd string isn’t too good. But again, take a little in consideration there was no game plan and the Broncos appeared to game plan a little.

Did Pappoe play himself off the roster?

Other than the one scoring drive the rest of the game was not competitive at all

Totally agree with you on #4, Mustipher is one guy I have been watching and he got a lot of double teams and still makes plays. He was a very stout run defender at PSU and can occasionally give you a pass rush. Certainly someone they should stash on the PS.

3. Not surprising the Oline struggled. The first string is barely set. Second string is thin. By the time you get to 3rd string there really isn’t much. The Cards are not the only team in this spot. Seems likely the upcoming roster cuts will be watched closely, but I’m not hearing much help will be on the street. Next years offseason figures to concentrate on building Oline & WR depth.

Yeah. But as you say yourself, not a lot teams have good back-ups. There is a huge shortage of quality OL league wide.

I feel the Cards are in one of the better positions in the NFL with Hernandez, Beachum, Gaines and Jones as back-ups.

Best case scenario would be a veteran that is losing his job and cut for salary savings.

10- I walked into this preseason thinking tune should go to practice squad. Now I believe we should just straight up cut him. He is absolutely terrible and I would rather bring in a guy off the streets than have him being our starting guy. Gave it a shot, but the dude has had 3 off seasons now and is still terrible- it’s time for this front office to cut its losses

Have the same feeling, but I think he stays to run the scout team and because he knows the system. I doubt there is someone that you pick off the street that would do better.

I agree that he’s a disaster, but just do not think you can make an upgrade at this point of the season. Should have been executed in the spring

I am pretty sure that Blount has been on the roster for some years because he is a very good special teamer, Oaken. The thing is that Crawford might be an even better special team player (at least he was great in college), so I think he is more likely to make the final roster than Blount.

Demarcado has been above Michael Carter for a couple seasons.
Yeah, you are probably right about that. I hope so, anyway.

I hope he did that last week, Slanidrac. He is bad. I would guess that at least Cody Simon and Davis Gaither is more likely to make the team than Pappoe.

That’s interesting, Harry. You question if it is set? Actually, my wish is to plug in Hernandez instead of Evan Brown, but I don’t think it will happen.

I have no idea what you see in Weaver. Everytime I see the ball thrown to him all I see is an incompletion. I am completely unimpressed. He is not getting open on deep routes either despite being the speed receiver. I would look for someone else on the waiver wire.

Disagree.

Our best starting OT was a rookie UDFA because none of the top 4 played.

The third string C played most of the game because the backup left in the 1st Q due to injury.

The best OG who played was the 4th best OG on the roster.

Basically you are saying that a game played by the teams 9th best OL and worse demonstrates a lack of roster depth, and that is silly.

I am all for a better 3rd string QB but execution seems a bit extreme.

Two things: 1) I didn’t see many who played well. This was a team loss because the entire team played poorly. 2) I didn’t think Tune played well, but the Oline he played behind was terrible. I’d like to see him start the last game with the No. 2 offensive linemen. If he doesn’t play better, then cut him.
