– I have wanted them to add a WR for a long time, but I must admit that I am a bit intrigued by Xavier Weaver and Simi Fehoko. Weaver played very well in the first game, and in this, he had a great catch and later looked to be causing a pass interference from a defender (to be fair, he also had a drop). Further, I have been advocating them to bring in Gabe Davis for a visit, but Fehoko is basically Gabe Davis with another name and special team qualities.
My point being that they do have WR-talent on the roster.
– Blake Gillikin looks as good as last season. That will be a weapon.
– Great game at RG by Jon Gaines. Best player on offense.
– I was really looking forward to study Elijah Simmons, but it was P.J. Mustipher who kept showing up, both as a pass- and run defender. At least practice squad-worthy.
– It's not that I want to keep piling on Kei’Trel Clark, but I mean... that’s tough to watch, dudes.
– I cannot see a world where Elliott Brown or Benton Whitley makes the roster, but both have certainly played better than Xavier Thomas, and obviously Ojulari, through two games. If I were in Ossenfort’s shoes (and by the way, why am I not?), I would keep one of them, put Ojulari on PUP to start the season, and try to get Xavier Thomas and the other of the two on the practice squad.
– Demercado has to be above Michael Carter on the depth chart week one.
– They have a lot of good safeties, but Kitan Crawford is certainly one of them. He has a chance.
– DT Patrick Jenkins will be a difficult evaluation for the coaches. Most plays he has no impact, and then once in a while he suddenly looks like the second coming of Aaron Donald.
– I have always wondered, when people say, “it can always get worse.” Then what is the worst it can get? I mean, something has to be the extreme, right? Well, now I know. It is to have Clayton Tune start a meaningful game.
