'Jerry Jones Is Always Looking For A Major Splash Move' — Cowboys Floated Among Landing Spots For 5-Time Pro Bowler

The Dallas Cowboys love the offseason and have found themselves at the forefront of many headlines over the past few offseasons. Contract sagas with multiple franchise stars like Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, and Micah Parsons, before his 2025 trade to the Packers, have been the major stories around the Cowboys.

Cowboys Seen as Potential Landing Spot for DeAndre Hopkins

Now, George Pickens is the latest Cowboys star whose long-term future is unresolved. Dallas never stops looking for ways to add major pieces to their roster, and five-time Pro Bowler DeAndre Hopkins was thrown around as a potential addition to their offense.

“The Dallas Cowboys have arguably the NFL’s best wide receiver duo in CeeDee Lamb (No. 21-ranked WR) and George Pickens (No. 3-ranked WR),” PFSN’s Cooper Kleinberg wrote. “The team’s WR3 and WR4, Ryan Flournoy and KaVontae Turpin, are solid rotational pieces as well.

“Still, Jerry Jones is always looking for a major splash move, and adding a big-name pass catcher like Hopkins would check that box for the 2026 offseason.”

The Cowboys will still have to deal with the long-term future of Pickens as Hopkins doesn’t quite fill that long-term need. But with Dallas looking to compete, Hopkins can carve himself out a nice role.

Hopkins hasn’t reached the 1,000+ receiving yard mark since 2023. Just 610 and 330 receiving yards over his last two seasons isn’t a great trend for his production as he’s struggled to become a key piece in the offenses of contenders like the Chiefs and Ravens.

But the Cowboys wouldn’t need Hopkins to be that player because they have Lamb, Pickens, and the explosive options in Flournoy and Turpin.

The offense in Dallas was among the best in football last year. They’ll need the same production if they aim to compete in a tough NFC. They’ve returned most of their offense, and a couple new additions should help them become even better.

While Hopkins might be an intriguing addition, the defense was the main issue in 2025 and could use more help. The new defensive staff will make this defense very interesting and remove them from being the one of the worst in the NFL, but it remains to be seen whether that will change their trajectory.

Dallas will be a team to watch in the NFC East with the Eagles making significant changes, the Giants looking to be much improved, and the Commanders being a question mark after last year’s struggles. The Cowboys with a couple big moves like a Hopkins signing could put themselves in prime position to make the playoffs or a run at the divisional crown.
