Summary: Brohm and staff wanted to go secure some weapons in the high school ranks in 2026, and Cook was high on the list of bolstering up the arsenal. A near consensus four star player, Cook chose the Cards over Miami, Michigan, Kentucky, and Tennessee, among others. He has good size and has already added roughly 10-12lb to his frame since arriving on campus earlier this year. This ‘Freshman 15’ is much different than mine.
While I am happy to listen to arguments for kids waiting until Summer to enroll in college, and enjoy their final semester in high school, etc there is a flip side to that as well. With Cook being on campus in the Spring, he presumably got a significant number of reps that would have previously belonged to the now injured Quisenberry and Kris Hughes. So much so, that Keinholz is already building some chemistry with Cook, and we saw him go for three catches and 40+ yards in the Spring game…literally just a few months removed from second period science glass at Archbishop Hoban high school. The Cards grabbed some depth in the portal which will add to the competition, but I think we see Cook in some capacity in the first three games, and then the staff realizes he’s too difficult to keep off the field consistently. As the kids would say…get him on the field, and let him ‘Cook’ (Sorry kids, I’ve officially killed it).
