A tense overtime thriller between the Indiana Fever and Las Vegas Aces on Thursday night ended up generating as much conversation about the crowd as it did about the game itself.
Aces guard Jackie Young flagged two courtside fans to security mid-game, though what actually happened between them remains unclear, with some siding with her and some questioning the ejection, stating that no rule was even broken.
Aces Jackie Young Sends Misbehaving Fans Packing
With 4:38 left in the third quarter, as teammate Jewell Loyd stepped to the free-throw line following a three-point play, Young began gesturing toward the sideline. She spoke directly with the officials, repeatedly pointing toward a group of fans seated courtside.
Security made several checks before escorting the two fans out of Gainbridge Fieldhouse; however, broadcasters reacted approvingly in the moment as the men were shown being walked off the floor.
In a statement provided to IndyStar, the Fever said: “Following a report of a comment directed toward a player, arena security spoke with the fan involved and witnesses. Security determined there was no violation of the Fan Code of Conduct, the fan was not removed from the arena, but elected to leave. We consider the matter closed.”
Young’s teammate, Chelsea Gray, also addressed the incident during the press conference.
“I don’t know the specifics, but stuff gets said on the sideline quite often. It wasn’t directed at me, it was directed at Jackie,” said Gray.
One user was so frustrated about this matter that he said, “That arena and fanbase are so toxic”
Another user took it upon himselfto question the fans. “Why can’t you folks conduct yourself like mature adults?”
However, one user decided tojoke about the matter and said, “For years they were begging fans to show up now they’re kicking them out.”

NBA G-League Host/Reporter Jon Root also thought what happened was wrong and blamed Amazon Prime for it.
“So the fan didn’t break any rules, but was put through a humiliation ritual because Jackie Young’s feelings were hurt? This is not how these situations should be handled… Also, @SportsonPrime should be ashamed for assuming the fans deserved being kicked out.”
Whether Thursday’s incident reflects a genuinely hostile environment or an over-the-top broadcast moment remains unresolved in what was otherwise a thrilling 86-84 overtime win for Young and the Aces.
